Our driver Vasilissis who was very knowledgeable and very informative on our was very instinctive in determining our needs on a very long trip to Olympia. His recommendations for a lunch was wonderful Great food at reasonable prices. Ellena was our tour guide through the museum and site She was absolutely brilliant Depth of knowledge was extraordinary. Her inclusion of an 11 year in her presentation was fabulous making her more interested in what she saw and being able to retain a high level of new knowledge. Thank you both you made our day very special

So it is important to note that Olympia is a VERY long ways from Athens. Nearly four hours one way. Olympia is also 120 degrees in the shade. The ruins are...ruined, but the sculptures of Nike and Hermes do make the looooong drive there somewhat worth it. We are Olympics junkies so this was a bucket list for us, but this isn't a place we will visit again.

With that being said, our driver, Vasilis, made the experience incredible. He picked us up in this beautiful Mercedes, he had water for us, PRINGLES (our fav), and of course fed us a ton of Grecian history on our way to/from Olympia. We took a different route on the way home so we were able to stop by the Cornith Canal, which was super cool. This was our second and last day with Vasilis and I have to say, after he dropped us off I cried A LOT, even my husband was a bit emotional. He made our super quick trip to Athens really really special and magical.

It was a great experience: we saw also the Corinthian Canal and the Isthmus, drived through Peloponnese and walked in Ancient Olympia. Our driver Yiannis is highly professional, a good guide and a friendly host. He knows everything about Greece and its history.

Excellent service, wonderful historic site. The original site of the Olympic games. A vast site (in ruins) but with well laid out information boards and descriptions. Takes a view hours to visit properly. The adjacent museum of artefacts is also well worth a visit with much stone work and also small items, all recovered from the site during excavation.

On this tour, you get to see the birthplace of the ancient Olympics, including the Olympic stadium. You actually get to walk out into the stadium and even run where the ancient Olympic athletes once competed. You can also see the ruins of the gymnasium, where the athletes trained. In the museum, you get to see the pediments of the Temple of Zeus. You can see pictures in books, but there is really nothing like seeing these things in person. My tip for travelers is: dont miss this experience!

A very fascinating experience. Long commute from Athens, so may be best to combine it on a multiday option. I would recommend a personal guide as well, which costs extra 90-100 euro, but well worth it. Otherwise it would be impossible to fully appreciate many aspects of the site
