This tour gives you the opportunity to visit the most visited archeological site in Crete Knossos Palace and then go away to explore the countryside , Lasithi Plateau the biggest one in Crete located at an altitude around 900 m above the sea level, visit old traditional villages where time seems to have stopped long ago , visit the Cave of Zeus where according to Greek Mythology Zeus was born there , visit the old wind mills an olive oil factory where we learn all about Cretan golden liquid and taste different kind of olive oil and of course later we enjoy a Cretan traditional lunch at a family restaurant up on the mountain.
( We pick you up from Heraklion port so it’s perfect if you are on a Cruise Ship, ( we don’t pick up from Chania , Ierapetra) .

Ed was our tour guide and he was amazingggg and made the whole tour 10 times better. He was super friendly, funny, and very informative. This tour beat my expectations and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The views were beautiful and I learned soo much! 10/10 would recommend!!

Getting the right tour guide makes all the difference for an 8 hour day. Ed was amazing. He has a natural ability to keep the teenagers and family laughing and interested. We greatly enjoyed the day and would highly recommend the experience to anyone visiting Crete.

We had a lovely time on our private tour with our fantastic caring and knowledgeable guide Spyros. We drove up into the mountains outside Heraklion and went to an olive factory . We learned how they press the olives for the oil. We bought some fantastic oil and thyme honey. Spyros stopped to show us the plants of the area and the views. Hiked the 1 mile hike up to the Zeus cave. It was very nice and cool inside. We saw the old windmills that ground the grains. Ate a fantastic lunch at a family owned restaurant. Such great food. Our final destination was the Knossos Palace. It was a wonderful place filled wil beauty and history.. Definitely recommend this trip and Spyros.

AMAZING KNOWLEDGEABLE TOUR GUIDE ED!!! DON’T MISS OUT! BOOK WITH HIM TODAY! We were on a cruise with 8 shore days that’s 8 Different tour guides and Ed was HANDS DOWN THE BEST!! He was waiting for us when we got to port, treated us to traditional iced coffee and pastries after we walked through a quaint village, surprised us with wine 🍷 when he took us to a Beautiful beach, drove us around in a Very roomy comfortable Mercedes van showing us sights that only locals would know about, while quizzing us on Greek History. His genuine kindness and jovial nature made him a joy to be around as if you were visiting a family member. He chose an authentic restaurant for lunch and then proceeded to serve us! See! Just too kind constantly going out of his way to do whatever was in his power to make our day Extraordinarily Special. We took Great pictures at Knossos! He was Always willing to take pictures of our group! Overall a Remarkable day my Most Favorite of the 15 day trip and it was All thanks to Ed!

Our day was spent with Spiros who was an amazing guide. Such enthusiasm and passion for his home. He was a great communicator and gave lots of information throughout the day. After treating us to coffee and orange juice he whisked us off to the olive oil factory which we really enjoyed - there was no pressure at all to buy anything - but we did because the choice was excellent and we also strongly believe it is important to contribute to the local industries and to help keep these alive. (Their products are superb) we had numerous opportunities for photos - loved the windmills and then had a strenuous walk to visit Zeus’ cave which has to be seen (you need strong legs for the uphill hike!) followed by a coffee at a favourite cafe that has been popular for generations. We finished with a tour of Knossos which was educational and set at our own pace we managed to see everything.
Thank you Spiros for showing us your beautiful home and sharing our day - you helped to make memories to last forever. Don’t forget to ‘dunk’ your biscuits in the coffee!

Herlakian overview was wonderful. We visited lots of local off the beaten path places such as the old windmills, small villages with narrow curving roads and ate at a local Cretan restaurant which had exceptional food and service, not to mention the views. After a 15 minute conversation with the owner, he suggested an absolute perfect itinerary. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Crete. Until next time. Dimitris our driver was very kind and enthusiastic with sharing his country’s history and culture with us.

Phenomenal tour, can't express how excellent the guide was. The guide, Ed, couldn't be more fun. He was incredibly friendly and more than kind. His attitude made the day fantastic. Great pre-communication. We started with a clean, comfortable van. We went to the Olive Oil factory which was interesting and something I have never seen before. We then took an amazing dive to Zeus Cave. Once completing the crazy hike, we then needed a restroom. With it being off season, many shops were closed. Ed was able to convince a shop owner to open up. We were able to use the rest room and visit the cute shop. Throughout the entire experience, Ed was just amazing. On the way back from the cave, we shopped at an amazing view point. At the viewpoint, Ed brought out a bottle of wine for us.
We then went to Windmills, then Knossos Palace.
At this time, we were hungry but didn't want to spend too much time on lunch. Ed took us to a local restaurant that was quick and inexpensive. He at lunch with us and we really felt like we had a new friend. We still had time left and he took us into town. He dropped us at a perfect spot, parked then met us in town to show us around.
Absolutely fantastic day and amazing guide. 100% recommended!
