Mahmoud (Adam) thought this would be the best way for us to start our week in Egypt and he was right! As he is an expert in Egyptian history as well as a tour guide, he was able to help us see the progress in pyramid design and construction. He was able to get us in several spots without waiting and always made us feel welcome. Memphis was very interesting, in that they are still finding artifacts. Climbing up Saqqare and then into the pyramid was fascinating. And of course, lunch after was delicious and much appreciated.

Egypt remains one of the most amazing spots to explore and the pyramids, Sphinx and other ancient monuments still remain one of the 8 wonders of the world. Having Mahmoud as our guide only amplified the greatness of this trip. Mahmoud remains my favorite tour guide EVER! He was so kind, protective of my husband and I, he gave us so much knowledge and he was a wonderful conversationalist. We would talk about his culture, family, religion and he would give us our space to go and explore for a bit on our own. He was always ready to take us where we needed and the way he talks history when we were at each location is truly what left such an amazing impression of Egypt in my heart. We WILL be visiting Egypt again - because there's still so much left to explore and when we do we won't be going without making sure Mahmoud will be available :). He's simply the best, you're in great hands with Mahmoud!

Before visiting Cairo, my wife and I read books and reviewed a few dozen videos about the history of ancient Egypt and tours. But nothing can beat a guide and touching/seeing the real thing. Ahmed got my timeline, dependency and pronunciation right, he also kept the peddlers at bay. Ahmed's wife and my wife share the same name and we shared personal stories and aspirations. We became friends.
Many travelers stated that you do not need a guide/driver to the pyramids. In hind sight, I would feel underwhelmed visiting an empty pyramids among a giant crowd, not being able to connect to all the artifacts and history now in Egyptian Museum. Ahmed is the one that made the connections.
Mohammad is an excellent driver in this chaotic world that is unfamiliar to me.
