As reported by others, we didn’t pay for dinner. The soda we bought in the boat was double typical cost. We were asked to tip the entertainer for her brief performance. None of these detracted from the trip. It’s fun and well worth the money. Johnny was a great guide and patient. He gave great directions for everyone to know what to expect. Most of the time was spent with the group but there were a few minutes to explore on your own at each site. There is nothing to regret about this trip.

Loved the temples, loved the convenience, and a kind tour guide. Thought I had seen all there was to see in Bangkok but these temples are special.

From start to finish, this was a very unfortunate and disappointing waste of time and money. When we arrived at the meeting point we were shown a menu for approximately 1 second and asked to quickly pick an item for 550 baht (an expensive side of meals for Bangkok) which would be prepared for us later on the trip. Then we were hurried into a hot shuttle bus and began our journey to Ayutthaya which our guide told us would be one hour. The guide didn’t talk at all during the bus ride, and the ride took closer to 2 hours with no updates on how close we were or introduction to the temples we were about to see.
When we arrived at the first temple the guide spoke (very quietly) for approximately 2 minutes outside of the temple, snapped a few pictures of the group, and told us to return in approximately 20 minutes to the bus. The temple grounds were huge, and we wandered around as a scattered group without knowing what we were looking at. At one point I asked the guide what happened to many of the buddhas which appeared cut in half and she muttered: “fire”. As our 20 minutes neared an end we found some fabulous statues and ponds which were very interesting, but we didn’t have enough time to really see them or take pictures and we didn’t understand the significance. From this point, we traveled to a second site of interest – Wat Mahthat known for the famous Buddha head in the tree. At this temple, the guide didn’t give us a meeting point or timeline, quickly rushed us towards the head of the Buddha without explaining any other parts of the temple, snapped a few pictures of the group, and then disappeared. One member of our group was disabled relying on a cane to walk and felt incredibly frustrated to have the guide abandon her.
Leaving Wat Mahthat our group miraculously found our bus and departed for the much-anticipated sunset boat/dinner cruise. Arriving at a restaurant on the river we felt hopeful as we walked towards an attractive docked boat equipped with dinner-style tables and beautiful wood siding. However just as we started descending the ramp our guide redirected us away from the boat into a small bleak room just above the dock. The room was bare with zero wall art or decorations and dingy windows that were partially blocked off with wood. In the stifling room, we were left to overheat while we wondered what would happen next. I asked the woman why we couldn’t eat on the beautiful boat and she explained it was too small, which was puzzling as the boat appeared quite large. As our mediocre food was served to us we ate in silence and another larger group arrived, filling the beautiful dinner boat, leaving only a small boat on the dock. As if it couldn’t get any worse, as we finished our food multiple members of our group saw a large rat run across the rafters. Finishing a disappointing dinner we were shuttled onto the small boat.
The boat ride was beautiful and being on the river was refreshing, but the boat motor was quite loud, coming in at 96 decibels on my boyfriend's watch, and I was forced to plug my ears the entire ride. After about 15 minutes of enjoyable river, the boat pulled off to the side and we were let out at what I assume was Wat Chaiwathanaram, our final temple. Since our guide hadn’t explained anything the entire trip I took it upon myself to ask at this point what the significance of the temple was. Our guide quickly sputtered “The king made it for his mother” then she disappeared leaving the group once again to wander the temple grounds on our own. At this point, the disaster of the situation was quite hilarious, and my boyfriend and I walked around the temple making up our own history stories to explain the architectural highlights and decapitated buddhas. At the end of the evening, we considered taking a cab back to Bangkok but regretfully boarded back on the bus. Two hours later, after another silent bus ride, we were incredibly relieved to be back at the hotel. Overall this was a very disappointing day as we were both excited to learn the history of this amazing world history site. We felt cheated by the experience and sad that we had lost so much of our day.

Wonderful tour that explores Ayutthaya history and a lovely boat ride!

Just a heads up that you will need to bring cash in order to pay for dinner.

We were picked up from Novotel in Silom round 1400. The guide gave us information about the trip on the bus to the first stop.
We visited the first temple and had 20 min of free time. After that we went to the second temple, quite nearb,y and again had some free time to explore.
I thought the itinerary mentioned 3 tempels to visit but we only visited 2.

We then went to the restaurant were the boat tour with sunset would start.
It was a relative small boat. The guide requested the dinner options earlier on the bus. Once we arrived at the boat the dinner was already prepared and ready. Dinner and drinks are not included in the tour and needed to be paid n cash seperatly.
The boat tour itself felt very rushed. The captian really stept on it which also made it hard to eat. Everyone quicky finished their dinner and drinks after which there was a short dance performance.
Once we reached the temple there were other boats already there waiting for the sunset. these boat were much bigger with a viewing platform on top.
The captain didnt stop the boat at all. We just made a circle at the location, and pictures were taken at the front of the boat with the view. This was quite rush as well. Once the pictures were done the captain turned the boat around and we rushed back. There was no sunset. The sun was still out.
We passed a tempel where everyone was given a piece of bread to feed the fish. You quickly had to throw this overboad since the boat kept moving. Once we reached back at the emptly restaurant the boat tour was over and we all went back on the bus back to bangkok and reached there around 2000.

In my oppinion the boat tour could have been done lesser rushed.

overall the tour was ok

Ayutthaya was really beautiful and the tour guide very knowledgeable. The tour group was a bit larger than I was comfortable with, and unfortunately our bus broke down as we were leaving Ayutthaya, delaying our return to Bangkok. For those traveling alone, the fried rice a la cart for dinner was enough of a meal; the set meals would be good if splitting between two people.

Thank you Pang (Nina) for an unforgettable trip. Nina arrived on time to pick me up and together with the driver, we set off to Ayutthaya. She explained every place well and answered all my questions. The temples were amazing. It's sad to see how greed resulted in the theft of many Buddha statues. The river cruise was another unforgettable highlight. I definitely recommend this company and Nina to anyone who wishes to visit Ayutthaya in style.
