We had a very enjoyable day with our guide, Hugo.
The really large Buddha was the highlight. Nara, the park, deer, views and walks made for a memorable experience. We recommend this day out.

The temples we visited were amazing. The guide was sub-par, he had no insight into the sites we visited and nothing to share, other than links to websites we easily found on our own. Local guides are only useful and worth the fee is they contribute something to the trip, this local guide did not.

Our guide communicated travel to Nara prior to visit, this was helpful. Guide sent us websites for sites to be visited, this we had already done in preparation for our trip.
Once we arrived at Nara, the guide had no interesting facts or in depth knowledge of the sites visited. We believe the reason to hire a local guide is for a more insightful visit, filled with interesting facts possibly not covered by general site information found online or on brochures/pamplets.
