Hoa Lu is some 110km or 2.5 hours bus from Hanoi. Located near the Ninh Binh city, Hoa Lu is the site of a 10th-century capital of an ancient Vietnamese Kingdom called Dai Co Viet. This small Kingdom covered an area of only 300 hectares, and reigned from the 10th century, during the Dinh and Le dynasties, to the 11th century, during the Ly Dynasty. The Kingdom was enclosed by a citadel. The citadel and the Yen Ngua limestone hills provided good defence for this kingdom against the invaders.
Not much of this ancient kingdom is left standing. There are two 17th century temples, modelled after their 11th-century originals that are on most itineraries to Hoa Lu. They are the Dinh Tien Hoang Temple (King Dinh temple) and Le Hoan Temple (King Le Temple).

It was a great trip to NinhBinh. We were picked up at our hotel by limousine bus. Phong was our guide . He spoke very good English, explained very well in history. The scenery in Ninh Bing was so beautiful . We visited 3 places : temple, boat trip and trek up to dragon mountain. Highly recommended this !

The tour was well organised: we were informed in advance of the name of the driver and time of pickup. The guide was funny, the places amazing. Buffet lunch was OK.

Getting out of Hanoi for some respite to Ninh Binh was a very welcomed change of pace. The tour guide was communicative and thorough. The buffet was decent. For the price of the tour, the experience had good value.

Trip was good. Enjoyed the bicycle ride through the rice paddies, along the river. Others on our same tour has booked to go up the mountain but we got charged extra (€10) to do this. Would be good to get the option included as that was very enjoyable and the views were amazing

We left Hanoi at 9am and we came back at 5.15 pm so the tour is shorter than expected, during the bicycle tour you can't see anything interesting or new, the other moments of the tour were okay!

We went on this tour to have a taste of Hanoi's nearby nature.
Tuam, our tour guide, can speak very fluent English. He is funny and told jokes all along. We had a leisure ride on a boat visiting caves. Also in the afternoon seeing the ancient capital of Vietnam.
The buffet lunch was delicious, full of variety of food. Right after the lunch is 40-min bicycle ride to the rice field.
Overall speaking, the tour is a good experience to explore the beautiful scenery of Vietnam.

We have been on an amazing trip to Hoa Ku and Tam Coc. The nature around Tam Coc is amazing with the limestone cliffs.
We had a very profesionell guide Tank, and he speaks fluent english and is very easy to understand

Today was a great day! First of all, Leon is a fantastic tour guide! He’s funny and very well informed... and he makes everyone feel special! We walked the old temples and learned about the first kings of Vietnam, then while the group was off for a bike ride, we had a cold beer!!! Then off to the river for a super scenic and relaxing ride down the river! We loved it!!! I hope to come back to Vietnam and will use Vietnam Travel TOP again!!!!!
