.Take the chance and visit Aswan and seeing its architectural heritage. Visit The Nubian land which is known as the land of gold. You can go to the west of Aswan where the native Nubians are living and visit the Nubian village.

We went to the Nubian village by small motor boat, the only possibility because the current is too strong for the feluccas.
The walk around Aswan is enchanting: you can see the typical colorful houses, the dunes behind and in the foreground the lush vegetation along the Nile and lots of birds.
The village itself is really charming with its streets and houses, each more colorful than the last.
On the other hand, two things displeased me: the overly touristy side: there are only souvenir shops in the main alley (even if it is understandable that the Nubians obviously benefit from tourism), and above all the captive crocodiles crowded together and amorphous in small cages in the courtyard of most houses. Tourists who wish can have their photo taken…for a fee.
We were told several legends explaining the attraction of Nubians to crocodiles. It's hard to know which one is true.

Visiting the Nubian village was a very interesting experience to close the Nile cruise. We leave from Aswan with a motor boat and travel along the river for about twenty minutes. The village is dotted with spice and souvenir shops and there is the possibility of a camel ride. Recommended excursion.

We loved living the Nubian Village experience. We were at a local school, with a super nice teacher, then at a house drinking tea and pastries, while they drew pictures of jena and we caught a small crocodile and later we went riding a camel and taking a bath in the Nile. All very authentic. It was a joy.
