We learned so much about Mexico’s muralists from our guide. He took us to a modest market where there were beautiful murals that the average tourist would never find on his/her own. Two highlights were Diego Rivera’s first mural inside a theatre and all the murals in the Palacio de Belles Artes. Our guide explained the political context and meaning behind the symbols and characters in each mural.

The guide Baalam was wonderful. He manage to remodel the tour because of remodelations, and we saw many different and interesting murales along the city. The theme is perfect to learn something more about Mexico in 19-20 sec. and the guide, very acknowledged in history, can answer you about many different topics you may open.

Our guide was Balaam. He was excellent. He did an amazing job explaining the murals and connecting them to the country’s history and political movements. He also shared information about the architectural styles and history of some of the key buildings in the areas as we walked around. I recommend that if you are doing this tour, do it in the morning, don't plan something else right after it but do go back to the museums and explore some more later. Your ticket is valid for the day. Enjoy!

Very educational tour of sites that were open (many were not, but the tour was planned around that): Bellas Artes and the old College of San Ildefonso. Good exposure to Orozco, Siqueiros, and Rivera as well as a few others. Really good integration of Aztec history, 20th century politics, and lives of the artists individually and their relationships. Took about 2.5 hours. Would highly recommend for beginning-intermediate appreciators of these wonderful artists. We had booked for 4, but 2 stayed home as one was sick. Two days later, I happened to be back on the same itinerary to show my wife (who'd stayed behind) what I had seen and parrot what I could remember, when we ran into the same guide, and he kindly added us to the tour, so eventually three of us got to take it, me twice -- even better the 2nd time!

Why do you allow people to book tours when things are closed. Our guide made up for it with an expanded city tour. Come on people
