This tour was excellent and taught me a lot about the history of Mexico while exploring the city center. Balaam was simply one of the best tour guides and knew so much detail about every mural we saw, as well as the history of Mexico City. In between walking through different sights, he pointed out the historical buildings and areas. The tour exceeded my expectations, and I learned a lot about the history of Mexico in a short time. If you have the time, I recommend this tour.

A day well spent
We spent a little over 3 hours visiting and learning about the murals in Mexico City. Balaam was an excellent guide. We started with the work of Diego Rivera and Clemente Orozco. We learned about the history of Mexico through the eyes of the artists. We also saw the work of Diego Sigueroa at the Palacio De Bellas Artes. As a bonus, Balaam took us to see the famous mural by Diego Rivera ‘Un Sueño De UnaTarde Domenical en la Alameda Central’. We couldn’t have had a more knowledgeable and patient guide. I recommend without reservation.

Very good and dedicated tour by Balam. We had the opportunity to see Diego Rivera's murals, which were the ones that interested us the most. The “Sunday Afternoon Dream” mural. The tour was enjoyable and with the expertise we were looking for.

We loved our tour with Balam- we requested to mainly do Diego Riveras murals and these were a highlight along with many other inspirational muralists. Having Balam with us to explain all the history and placement was so rewarding- we loved our tour and highly recommend it

Mural Tour with Balaam,
The Mural tour was the most anticipated event of my trip and the best part of it by far. Our tour consisted of only my friend and myself so it was customizable from start to finish.
For me CDMX had always been a dream to see because of these amazing murals. Now like in the times they were created they speak to the viewers, they tell stories of culture, history, political movements, human indulgences, manufactured lack, natural abundance, and also beauty. The stories of the murals are equal to all men and women to understand with out the means of the written word. Their stories flesh out the history behind the structure of the city, and the spirit of the Mexican people.
Balaam our tour guide informed us not of the artistic techniques of the muralist but of their many details of their meaning and historical context. On my own I did later find some displays of some artist’s preliminary paper, drawings ranging from thumbnails concepts and graphite work in their original scale. Ask Balaam to tell you where they are or take you there if that is of interest to you.
Balaam took us to see all of the favorite most seen murals but surprised us with some other lessor known locations as well. There is a government building that houses the most famous large mural by Diego Rivera that was not accessible to us because access to it had been closed to the public, something for which Balaam had no control over. So what he did for us was to take us to two other locations not scheduled on the tour. One place we visited was, although not too far from the center, a little off the beaten path, it was a large market which housed amazing murals by women muralists. Those murals were sort of hidden in plain sight and one could easily pass them by without knowing they existed. I’m so glad we saw them. Also the market was fun to see.
Balaam, who by the way spoke perfect English, is knowledgable not only of the murals and MX history but also of the many places we visited and those places we hadn’t, the buildings, the details of those places. He is a wealth of knowledge and insight, somehow also abundant energy although his demeanor is cool, calm and collected.
Do this tour, see many things, see many murals, hear/see many stories make a new friend in Balaam. Always review to share your experience with others and help these tour entrepreneurs by word of mouth…oh yes, and my personal favorite, remember to share a tip, especially when the tour goes five hours!

We had a fantastic experience with this tour. We were a group of 9 with 5 children 11 years old and under. We received a personalized tour that was great. Our guide was very engaging for both the kids and adults. He was very knowledgeable explaining various pieces and buildings. The murals and architecture themselves were breathtaking. Very much recommend this tour when visiting Mexico City!
