FAME is a full-scale replica of a privateer schooner from the War of 1812 that captured over 20 prizes! We sail up to five times a day between May and October from Pickering Wharf Marina in downtown Salem.
On board our traditional gaff-rigged schooner, you'll get a chance to raise the sails and even steer the boat as we sail Salem Sound and talk about the fisherman, traders, and privateers that played such a central role in the saga of Salem, and of the young United States.
This is a great hands-on adventure — but you can also just sit back and enjoy a beverage and take it all in as we cruise past the historic forts and lighthouses of Salem, Beverly, & Marblehead.
Note: although the captain & crew have plenty to tell you, this is NOT a narrated tour! No children under five allowed.

I highly recommend this tour if you visit Salem. The guides provide the history privateer schooner and were very friendly. We also got to help raise the sails.

Nice, relaxing trip. Cool boat. The crew members were very friendly and let volunteers put up the sails. They even launched a mini cannon.

Amazing. Such a beautiful sunset sail on Fame. The entire staff was engaging and made the evening one to remember. Perfect for anyone of any age, it's a must-do in Salem. Definitely a boat tour that you can repeat in the season.

Every summer we host a family reunion and are always looking for fun things to do during the weekend. Last summer we chartered the Fame for a cocktail sail. Mike and Melissa made the planning easy and the sail such fun. It was the hit of the weekend!! We have done a daily sail many times and have never been disappointed so we knew a charter on the Fame would be perfect also, and it was! We highly recommend the Fame.

What an amazing experience! The sunset was absolutely stunning and the folks on the boat were very friendly and welcoming. We are happy to add this tour into one of our yearly “must do” tours in Salem.

We had the best time!! The crew was so nice and helpful. They brought us blankets and hot cider with rum. The sunset was beautiful and I got proposed to during the cruise.
