This was on my bucket list and I’m so glad I was able to experience it with my boyfriend. The tour was very informative and memorable as well. I even left with a few souvenirs from the gift shop. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who travels to San Francisco.

The Alcatraz tour was typical , no problem, but the second part - the bar cruise has an issue. The same voucher has not been recognized by blue fleet office , they asked for a separate email that I have never received. The phone number on the voucher - I called twice and no one picked up. I had to buy tickets on the spot from blue fleet directly and now can’t find a way to reimburse for the original one.

It was worth the time and money. It allowed for a walk back in time. In the lilies as a prisoner. A must see.

The Alcatraz tour was amazing. Hands down a 5. The Bay Bridge Cruise was a failure. The boat was filthy. We were told to line up 15 minutes before the tour, which we did. Unfortunately, that meant that we couldn't sit upstairs. I would definitely suggest passing on the cruise.

Alcatraz was really i teresting. I liked the way the audio tour told the story of the prison. However, i was really disappointed that we never were able to use our 1hr cruise ticket BECAUSE it was a totally separate operation that didn't even operate from that pier. We had booked the 3:50pm tour to Alcatraz.

This is a good combo to tap into for travellers short on time (but not short on budget, as it is not cheap for my taste at least). We were given a 3:50pm departure (I don't think you get to choose so blank out your day to ensure you're not compromised) to Alcatraz and the Bay Cruise that sails under and around the Golden Gate Bridge you can take whenever you please. We just rolled up at noon to Pier 39, located the Blue and Gold fleet counter, and got ourselves onto a 1:30pm boat that lasted an hour, gave us time to grab a bite, watch the Sea Lions and take in the bustling Pier before the cruise. Fog didn't cooperate so we couldn't see the bridge in its full glory up close but that'll do. The Alcatraz section which was the main event is on Pier 33 (note that and be aware of foot travel time), I thought that was fantastically organised, you get on the island, the audio tour available to everyone was very well made and really gives you a sense of the place. there are also other exhibits that speak of issues like the over incarceration in the US as well as a lesser known occupation incident of the island in 1969 that are really fascinating to uncover. We took the last boat out for regular visitors at 6:30pm as the island is open only for the night tour packages from there on.

It was a great tour. Try to go when it is not too foggy and you can see Alcatraz from San Francisco. We went on a foggy day and it takes half of the experience away…
