The starting point of this small but intense Trek is Amalfi. The Valle delle Ferriere, rich in natural landscapes, owes its name to a distant past, in fact even today you can find ironworks and ruins of medieval origin. The Valley is located on the border between Amalfi and Ravello, in the middle of the Scala mountains and is crossed by the Canneto river. Along the way, you can also meet different types of animals, such as the Salamandrina Terdigitata, a curious local amphibian. During the trek, you can notice the rich beauty of the Valley
of flourishing nature, waterfalls, streams of water. The difference in altitude is 309 meters both uphill and downhill. There are no exposed features. At the end of the trek, there will be a visit and lunch at the "Agriturismo Foreporta", where you can taste typical local products strictly at 0 km.

I did this trek a few years ago, and returned this year with my daughter. We ended up getting the same guide that I got last time -- Matteo -- and he was outstanding. He knows the geography and history of the area very well, and he makes sure that everyone is comfortable and is having a good time. You will see some beautiful scenery. Plan to pay the extra 5 Euros (paid to the town, during the middle of the trek) to go into the Riserva -- it is the best part of the hike. Even with the extra $5, the price is still very reasonable. I highly recommend this trek.

Guided visit within a small group from the centre of Amalfi. Leisurely walk with good views along the way - old paper mills, lemon groves, rivers and waterfalls.
The gradient can be a little steep in places but manageable. Inside Valle delle Ferreire itself the scenery was stunning with high waterfalls, ferns, mosses, its own little cool ecosystem - didn’t quite get to see any salamanders though. The area itself was a little smaller than I expected but still worth the trip. Knowledgeable guide adds a lot of value, very glad we used him (Matteo).

Well worth the hike up into the Valley. Easy to get to from the Duomo in Amalfi. There is only one major road. Walk up the road and follow the marked signs. It is basically straight up the hill and one left (which is well marked). At the top you arrive in a protected area. Entrance is 5 euros. On your hike you will pass an old paper mill and iron foundry. There is a great restaurant about halfway. Amalfi is busy and crowded. The hike up into the valley is shaded and quiet. We loved it! Takes about 2.5 hours round trip at an easy pace. Some steps but not too bad if you are in moderate shape.

This was a great experience, and the hike is not too hard. Our guide was very knowledgeable and patient, and the nature reserve is very much worth seeing. It’s like a whole different world up there.

I would give this 5 stars, but when we got to the nature reserve, we were told that the 5€ cost of the nature reserve was not included in the experience ticket. I booked this experience ticket specifically for access to the nature reserve, and feel that the description is very misleading. So bring cash, and note that you’ll be paying an extra 5€ per person to actually enter the nature reserve. I wouldn’t have purchased this experience if I knew we had to pay extra at the top of the hike.

A great trek. Paola was a fantastic guide who learned us about both nature, culture and the history of Amalfi.
Quite easy walk on good paths. If you get the opportunity to join this trek, don’t miss it. And don’t miss having lunch on the great Agricola Fore Porta - great food and drink, all produced on site.

The trek in Valle delle Ferriere was wonderful. Matteo was an excellent guide who provided a lot of interesting information about the areas we were seeing. The Reserve was the most beautiful part. Bring a jacket or sweater if you go inside the Reserve because it is colder there than on the trail.
