Kompong Phluk is a floating village located in the middle of Cambodia's largest lake, Tonle Sap. The term “floating” is a bit misleading: the houses are actually built on very tall stilts around 8 meters high. During the rainy season, the lake rises and covers the stilts, giving the illusion that the homes are floating in the water. We learned that these types of villages are built in the middle of the lake to make it easier for fishermen and rice farmers to gather during harvest season. This tour will take you into an enriching cultural immersion of Tonle Sap Lake called Kampong Phluk Village. Learn more about the ecological and economic significance of Tonle Sap Lake to the Cambodians. Catch a glimpse of the uncommon village life and on return will visit The Artisan School and drop at the Old Market free for shopping before taking you back to your hotel.

We really enjoyed this activity. It gave us a glimpse of Cambodian life we would not otherwise have seen, specifically the floating village and relax on the boat was relaxing. The boat does not really cruise but floats along. We enjoyed sitting in the hammocks with a drink in hand, making for a very pleasant experience. I would recommend this activity highly - very relaxing.
