The Sema ceremony represents a mystical journey of man's spiritual ascent through love, finding the truth and reaching "Perfect". Then he returns from this spiritual journey as a man who has reached maturity and perfection to love and serve all creatures regardless of faith, class or race. With the Cappadocia Whirling Dervish Hat (the tombstone of his ego) and his white skirt (the cover of his ego), the dervish is spiritually born into the truth. When he takes off his black cloak, he travels and progresses from the heavens to spiritual maturity. Keeping his arms crossed at the beginning and at every stage of the Sema, he represents the number one and bears witness to the oneness of Allah.

Part of our Gate 1 travel , we paid extra for attending this Sema inspiration. This symbolizes in seven parts the different meanings of a mystic cycle to perfection. It was well done, but good thing we a brochure to explain it all to us , I wouldn’t have understood anything. The whole thing only last 45 minutes and you cannot take pictures .you can only take your camera out when you are done.

The tour operator was very communicative and reached out as soon as we booked the tour. Offers flexibility and reliable pick up and drop off service included in price. The tour itself was eye-opening as it was our first dervish ceremony and different from typical popular hot air ballon activity. Overall, recommend the experience

Seeing the whirling dervishes was one of our very pleasant experience while in Turkye. We wanted to see something special, something that is Turkish, that we can only see it in Tyurkie, and for us, this was it! The show took place in the old and beautiful Saruhan Caravanserai outside Avanos. There were not too many people watching, then the walls of the old caravanserai, the music, the prayers and the whirling of the dervishes took us to a different world and made it for a very pleasant experience indeed.

Witnessing what looks like a religious and well choreographed but after 5 minutes of 4 guys whirling around I looked around the almost empty place also yawning and getting tired. It’s a great culture but so repetitive and not for same spinning for an hour.
It’s too long save time and enjoy views at a restaurant sipping wine while enjoying beautiful sunset.

The program started on time at 6pm. It was a short ceremony ( about 40 min) . In my opinion, the duration was perfect - since we still get to see the whirling dervishes , but also do get too bored. Highly recommend. The guide picked us up from the hotel and dropped us back.

I contacted Mr Mehmet a week before our travel to Cappadokia. The communication via mail was fast and easy. We booked balloon flight. When we arrived at Goreme we met Mehmet. The service was excellent. He proposed to us other activities and we chose also ATV sunset tour. Everything was as he explained and described.
