Kim met me at the door of her beautiful home with a smile, making me feel immediately at ease. She had prepared a lovely array of apéritifs, good wine (I chose white) and interesting conversation & I had the most enjoyable evening sharing stories with her. As a solo traveler, I look for experiences that give me the opportunity to meet people that provide lasting memories of my travels. Kim was just that and I left feeling like I had made a new friend. It was a wonderful way to spend time in Bordeaux.
Thanks Kim...hope to see you on my next trip to Bordeaux.

Kim invited us to her charming apartment for drinks and nibbles. An apéritif, some wine and a beautiful spread of best quality meats, cheeses, olives and bread. I ate everything it was so good. Besides the food Kim is a wonderful entertaining host. We were having such a good time, I’m afraid we might of stayed a little too long, but of course Kim would never say that.

I had such an unforgettable time with Kim!
She was very warm and welcoming, so I felt comfortable to be at her house from the beginning.
She is an American women who is open minded and knowledgeable. We talked a lot about food and cultures in Bordeaux, Paris, and Japan where I’m from. She had professional experiences in design industry and has traveled a lot. I enjoyed how she sees the world with wider perspective.
I had local appetizers and aperitif which were really great. Goat cheese was the best!
She even invited me to join her work at a market in the next morning which is not included in this tour. That was just heartwarming and learned a lot how she does.
Excellent experience, highly recommended!!

Before traveling to Bordeaux i had heard about a American living in there who spoke perfect French and invited travelers to her home for drinks and nibbles before going to their dinners. I went with several friends and we had the time of of our life, and this was just the beginning of our trip! Kim Freeman's energy and outgoing personality, and her charming home in the Chartrons quarter of Bordeaux (she was a magazine design editor in a former life) made us want to just hang out her her living room all night! She is not only filled with info about navigating the culinary and cultural treasures of Bordeaux but she gave us information about day and weekend trips around Bordeaux, of which there are legion! If yours is a long stay as ours was, you will want to spend another evening with her before you leave!
Her drinks and appetizers are all from the classic offerings of the region.
