The Guatemala City Half Day Tour by a native tour guide is the safest way to know the city.

1. Museo Nacional De Arqueologia & Etnologia
The National Museum of Maya Art is impressive to see, with its recent renovations, you can appreciate some of the main pieces that conforms the history of the Maya civilization.
2. Avenida La Reforma
Have the experience of a drive through to the historical monuments all around the main roads of Guatemala City.
3. Plaza de la Constitucion
We continue the tour by walking around the Plaza of Constitution, so you can have a better sighting and explanation of the historical buildings that surrounds it.
4. Palacio Nacional
A visit inside the National Palace of Culture is one of the must wanted attractions to do in this tour. You can get in depth in the uniqueness architecture and style of the palace. Prepare to be amazed by the interesting history that this palace hides in plain sight.
5. Catedral Metropolitana
The next stop is the Metropolitan Cathedral where you can see some damage of the earthquake that hit Guatemala City in the 1917 and 1918. This is the most important church in Guatemala and in here you will find old paintings from the XVI century and the oldest virgin brought by the spanish conquers at the XV century. It’s neoclassical architecture will blow you away!
6. Mercado Central
In our way out of the cathedral, we’re going directly to the Central Market to shop some souvenirs or just to get the experience of being in one of the most iconic markets of Guatemala. You will be immerse in the colorful textile, the traditional food and the local craft.
7. Paseo de la Sexta
The walk through the famous avenue of Guatemala City is a must! La Sexta is a pedestrian avenue where you can experience the day by day of the locals. In this walk you would be able to see the architecture of some historical buildings, the vibrant commerce and the different restaurants or food courts available. It’s an experience you don’t want to miss.

The entire tour was enlightening. Pamela was probably the best guide we have ever done a tour with. She was knowledgeable as well as insightful, and we got the impression that she really enjoyed showing us her town. We especially enjoyed her explanations of the symbolism of the details and structural forms of the Presidential Palace, as well as her explanations of how Mayan traditions still influence the practice of Catholicism in Guatemala. We went away from this tour with a much deeper cultural understanding. If that's not something that interests you, you will still love the incredibly beautiful historic buildings and streetscapes.

Our tour of Guatemala City was amazing. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. We visited the Mayan ruins, the Presidential Palace and central market before having a wonderful mid afternoon lunch at a restaurant she recommended. Communications was excellent and the value received was excellent.
