Come with us in a one-day adventure through Bulgaria with a private 4wd Dacia Duster SUV. We leave Bucharest and head for the medieval town of Veliko, where we will visit the Tsarevets fortress and the picturesque places in the city. We then go to the Shipka monument and to the eagle's nest, a mountainous area where the battle for the liberation of Bulgaria was given. At the end we will reach one of the most famous communist monuments in Europe, the Buzludzha Monument, which looks like a flying saucer at 1400 meters altitude.

We took the day trip with Alex and Geo last week and it was great! It's a long drive and they were both a pleasure to chat with in between sites, and had a lot of knowledge about the places we visited. The weather didn't cooperate but it just made for much cooler photos. The lunch they provided was great with a special thanks to Alex's mom and grandmother for the pie and drink!

We would definitely recommend joining any trips/adventures that they are offering. Just overall great people to spend a day with. Also, this specific tour was the only one that went to these specific places. Most tours go to the usual tourist places, but if you want to see something new and different, definitely take their tour.

If we get back to Romania we will definitely be taking another tour with them. Thanks to you both!

This was a great tour and Alex was a wonderful guide. He was friendly, kind, knowledgeable, and best of all, he was great company. While completing the tour, we ran into a great deal of snow on the mountains (we were visiting in January) and had to course correct. Alex did so without hesitation. He ended up taking us on a hike instead—and luckily he had warned us to wear appropriate clothing and shoes ahead of time, just in case. Because of this, we were still able to see everything we wanted to. He also provided us with a great home-cooked meal afterwards. I’d definitely recommend taking a tour with Alex.

Alex was by far the highlight of this trip. I knew finding an off the beaten path tour to see Bulgaria in January would be a difficult task but Alex made it an unforgettable experience. We really enjoyed the pace of the day and there was a great balance of information as well as some down time to ensure we were really able to capture the feeling of the country. The day was full of adventure and it was really topped off with a delicious homemade lunch. When the road up to Buzludzha wasn’t able to be driven, Alex quickly shifted that time to a hike which was a wonderful way to see nature and enjoy our time up and down the mountain. I cannot recommend Alex enough as a tour guide. I look forward to returning to Bucharest and exploring again with him.

Alex clearly has a passion for travel, being a guide and adventuring around his own and nearby countries. It's fair to say this was the highlight of our trip. The weather conditions were rather difficult, particularly getting to Buzludzha Monument - Alex worked really hard though to ensure the itinerary was kept, even though it meant getting back to Bucharest quite late. The open air lunch/picnic was a nice touch, and even though it was a really long day with a massive amount of driving, Alex remained talkative and engaged up to the end. He got the perfect balance between giving us information and also allowing us to enjoy the views and taking photographs. The stops are really good - bit on the alternative side and off the beaten track, but that's what makes it so good. It is refreshing to come across a guide who has followed his passion. Was really nice to meet you Alex and I can recommend this tour highly.

Just fancied a day trip to Bulgaria. Hadn’t looked too much into the trip but it sounded good and I thought why not. Alex picked myself and another couple up from outside the intercontinental hotel. The trip was interesting and informative. Alex was a great host, took care of everything. Had lunches packed for us. Homemade food which was very good. The intinery was interesting and well paced. Alex knew about the places he took us and gave knowledge and depth in the places he took us.
Alex was one of the most genuine people I meet on my trip in Romania. I wish him great success with his tour company and would recommend him to anyone for one of his tours.

I did this tour yesterday with our most awesome tour guide ever....Alex 👍!!!! It was way worth it. He takes you to the old town , Veliko Tărnovo, a UNESCO tentative list for world heritage site, then to the Shipka Monument and the Best part is the Buzludzha monument. An abandoned and the biggest unoccupied monument in Europe ( I hope I got it right this time Alex). It was a different experience. One of my best experience here on this trip. Alex made the drive bearable ( it was a long drive) but made it interesting. He is very engaging in the conversation. Such a pleasant person. One of my favorite is having a picnic at the Shipka monument where he laid a cloth on the grass and we ( the tour group) feast on home made food. My favorite is the apple pie made by his mom . I will do this again if I come back in Romania. I encourage tourists to do this awesome tour. Thanks for an awesome experience Alex and promise not to fall asleep and banging my head multiple times next time.

This is a great trip. If you are in Bucharest on a Thursday then do not hesitate... just book this adventure with Alex(andro) and his company OnAdventure. It's a thoughtfully planned trip by Alex & he is such a good guide and decent, friendly, knowledgeable, all round fella. It's an ideal opportunity to travel south from Bucharest & through Southern Romania & across the Danube at the Friendship Bridge and into Northern Bulgaria at the city of Ruse. The stops en route are all detailed in the itinerary and all worthy of seeing with, for me, Buzludzha being the tops. Check out all of the other reviews before you join Alex/OnAdventure and when you return you'll agree for sure, like me, that this IS the trip to do from Bucharest!
