We did the private tour which was worth it. They allowed us to chose our meeting time and with their recommendation we decided to leave at 6 A.M. The ride was about 1 hr and 50 mins. There is no bathroom area on the way there, but there are on the way back. I strongly suggest being well hydrated starting the day before prior to heading out in the June heat. Yes to having comfortable loose clothing along with a large hat to provide shade as there is little to no shade when walking. Light colored clothing was a lifesaver for me. I wore long sleeve cotton shirt with gym shoes. It made walking in the heat bearable. If one is to go during rainy season I would definitely recommend rain boots and having a plastic bag to change shoes when getting into the car. There were various sellers at the site which thankfully they weren’t rude or pushy and if you showed no interest you would be left alone. There is a restroom at the entrance or within the site which has no AC, so expect to sweat. I wished I had a cotton handkerchief to wipe my face instead of using my clothes or hand.

As for our tour guide, Gabriel, he was so kind and incredibly knowledgeable. He was always punctual and patient towards us and our needs. He made us feel comfortable and at ease. His vehicle was very clean and had great air conditioning which is a must when the heat topped over 100 degrees Fahrenheit daily. He wore a required uniform with long black sleeves which I’m shocked they would require any guide to wear. Just to show how much by the rules he went by. He was always professional. He made us feel we had a new friend.

After the ancient ruins we drove for about 45 minutes to the cenote. The parking area is only a few feet from dressing rooms which have limited lockers with key. They have separate male and female dressing rooms with doors and a roof but are open air. The other side of the dressing rooms have about 10 shower areas that are for one to rinse off, with swimsuit on, prior to going into the cenote and you can use after as well. The shower area is all open without privacy but are clean and comfortable. The cenote is very close by about the same distance as the parking to the dressing rooms. This cenote is has steep wooden stairs which I wouldn’t recommend for someone who can’t easily do stairs. The cenote didn’t have clear water but I was still happy to enter after a hot day. No money is necessary to take unless you want to use their small rope zip line into the water. It’s $5 per jump and they had a repelling rope which I think was a bit more than $5 since they have to use a harness to fit your body.

We had the most incredible day with our fantastic driver and guide Gabriel. From the moment Gabriel picked us up everything felt so special and he made us feel so at ease. The tour of Chichen Itza was so fascinating and Gabriel’s knowledge and ability to explain everything so clearly and in such interesting ways made the experience even better. We particularly enjoyed his knowledge of the Mayan language. We then visited a Cenote and had a wonderful time to relax here before Gabriel showed us around the magic town of Valladolid. Again, Gabriel’s knowledge was exceptional and we felt like we got to know the place well even in a short space of time. The drives were comfortable and relaxing. This was our favourite day of our holiday and we couldn’t recommend this experience, and Gabriel from Travellazza highly enough!

Gabriel and Carlos did a fantastic job! They took great care of us from the moment we got on the bus. Even those of us who had been to Chichén Itzá before learned a ton, lunch was delicious, the cenote was stunning, and Valladolid was a great way to wrap up the day. Our appreciation of Mérida and the Mayan culture is so much higher because of our wonderful Travelezza day trip. Next time we’re in Mérida or Mexico City, we’d book with them again in a heartbeat.

An excellent tour! Stress free. Gabriel was an excellent guide. He provided lots of information about the history of the Mayans, Yucatán, and Mérida. Super knowledgeable about Chichen Itza. Fantastic lunch with homemade cochonita pibil and a nice Cenote swim. It’s a long drive there and back but totally worth it. Our driver, Fernando, was very safe and helpful during the trip

Blanca and Ali were fantastic! Friendly, informative, and happy. They went out of their way to make us comfortable from the very first contact. We experienced much more history of Chichen Itza than we would have seen on our own. The viewing and participation in making a traditional Mariam meal was not only fun, but delicious. Our experience in the cenote was magical. Anyone going to Meridia should try this private tour, it is worth every penny. Thank you for an amazing experience.

I had a great time on this tour! The guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and he did a great job of explaining the history and culture of Chichen Itza. We had plenty of time to explore the ruins, and we even had time to swim in a spa-like cave with warm water, which was a beautiful and relaxing experience. The tour was well-organized and the transportation was comfortable. I would definitely recommend this tour to others.

We visit Yucatan for the second time, even we have visited Chiche Itzá before, we decided to comeback but privately this time. This was the best experience choosing this time the private tour. The guide was not only very knowledgeable and kindly, but funny and respectful, driver and vehicle clean and brand new, full cold beverages minivan on board. The tour was flexible, the team accommodated every moment to give us the best of the day. After the private tour at Chichen Itzá, we had an amazing experience in a secret salt water cave at Valladolid, that was the best part of all the activities we made in Yucatan, the warm temperature of the water and the total experience was wonderful, we enjoyed 100%. Thank you Travelezza, Luisa and the team for making our trip the magical.
100% recommended!!!

We did this tour with Gabriel and the Travelezza team and they were great! The bus (we were 10 people plus luggage) was super comfortable. Gabriel was a wonderful tour guide - really friendly and informative. Chichen Itza was so interesting (the kids weren’t hugely interested but they are super young and Gabriel told them tales of Pok ta Pok which got them involved). We also went to a great traditional Yucetan restaurant in Valladolid that they recommended which was a lovely experience .

It was a long day (8am start in Merida; then Chichen Itza and Valladolid; finally dropping us at our hotel in Cancun by 7pm). We also had the option to do a cenote but chose a wander round Valladolid instead.

Travelezza are maybe the best tour guides I’ve come across in my varied travels. Definitely recommend
