Though it is rubber stamped to never take place again but we still look back how it is started and the way it came to an end. A very remarkable moment in South Africa history perfectly witnessed on this tour. Never again shall the people of South Africa suffer any form of racial oppression, either direct or indirect.

Apartheid Museum brings more insight about the architectures of the system, anti Apartheid campaigns, the end and the new dawn of a democratic state in the republic. Soweto, in the South West of Johannisburg, became the first place to host gathering in search of an answer for the South Africans against the Apartheid rulings. Traveling Soweto streets you still hear that voice calling for the end of racial injustice. Again the massacre of 16th June 1976 define an uncompromising approach for human justice in all forms. Gain more insight on the tour.

A fascinating experience at the museum and in Soweto.
We also visited the Mandela House and the Hector Peterson memorial.
Lunch was brilliant too!
Norman was friendly and knowledgable, and we felt safe and happy in his company.
Stops for photo opportunities were appreciated.
I would definitely recommend this tour and Norman!

This was an amazing day trip. Our guide was wonderful who shared so much information. Museum a definite visit and the drive through Johannesburg a must, just to see the different styles of life. Soweto and its history are phenomenal.

We had a day tour of the Apartheid Museum and Soweto with Tshepo. Tshepo was a great guide and the day was very informative. I would recommend this company and Tshepo as a guide.

My wife who is from Johannesburg decided to do this trip while we were in the country on family business. In short it was an eye opener and well worth the day and money. The Apartheid museum really open both our eyes to the history and the waste of the legacy the the current government has made.
Soweto was so different from expectations that you get from the media with huge houses across from shanty areas.
However, what made the trip was our guide, who was knowledgeable, articulate and gave depth to the areas you visit. He was worth the visit alone.

I highly recommend this tour.
Norman, my guide for the day, came to the hotel to pick me up. We drove to the Apartheid museum where he left me inside to explore. 2.5 hours later we met outside and were on our way to Soweto.
Touring the various neighborhoods in Soweto gave me a great overall view of the area. We stopped at the Hector Peterson memorial and then at the Mandela house.
At the end, Norman drove me back to the hotel.
Norman was a very charming guide and very knowledgeable of the history of the area.

This is a tough review to give, because the experience itself is well worth it, but the way our day played out was not what we expected and detracted from our ability to enjoy the experience.

This tour is billed as a private tour, "Only your group will participate." This is NOT what happened. A guide picked my friend and I up and took us to another hotel where we were delivered to another tour guide and a group of 5 others. Those 5 had booked differently from us--ours a half day tour, theirs a full day that included a tour of Johannesburg at the end; ours included lunch, theirs did not. It was clear from their comments that they also expected a private tour--they apologized for holding up the tour, not realizing there were other people included in their tour.

The night before (rather late--9pm), we were asked if pick up 15 minutes later was okay. We agreed, but because we were linked up with this other group, we left a full hour later than scheduled. Because of this, we had less time in the Apartheid museum in order to keep the schedule to visit Soweto, the Mandela House, and lunch.

While our guide had offered us the ability to join the tour of Johannesburg with the rest of the group, we had to return to our hotel before leaving for the airport that night, which is why we booked only a half day. When lingered at lunch longer than expected and had to encourage the other group to pay for their lunch and remind the guide of our need to return to our hotel by a certain time. It was only because of that reminder that we made it back at the end of our window.

I do recommend a tour that takes you to all of these places. I was most taken with the tour of Soweto, in particular the opportunity to interact with locals and see how some of them live. But this tour in particular was a disappointment. My friend and I booked multiple tours through Viator in Cape Town and Johannesburg, and this one is the only one that disappointed us because of how it was run--it was NOT a private tour as advertised, and our guide needed to be reminded multiple times of our need to return by a certain time.

Norman was a very attentive guide. We saw the different socio-economic levels of Soweto and were impressed by Norman's knowledge. Recommend thoroughly. Bring some change for tips as there is more than just Norman who guides you. There is a different guide at the Mandela house and also if you are taken into one of the more deprived areas of the township, another guide shows you around.

I recently had the pleasure of booking this excursion while visiting Johannesburg. I highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting an insight, as well as receive a cultural insight of the South African culture and community. Pasta was on time, SUPER KNOWLEDGABLE about the history of South Africa, and just overall the best tour guide ever. If any of my family or friends visit Johannesburg, they'll definitely be going on this tour. The experience, eating with the locals, visiting the local markets, and the Apartheid Museum was just life changing.

I just took the opportunity to do Apartheid Museum tour with Norman, and it was an excellent tour. He is a professional guide, kind a lot in the treat. His explanations about South african history was the perfect starter before museum experience. Hope I can come back to South Africa and enjoy with Uhlalala tour of another guided visit, Very recomended.
