The Transfăgărășan is a paved mountain road crossing the Carpathian Mountains, is the second-highest paved road in the country with an altitude of 2,042 metres (6,699 ft).
The road also provides access to Bâlea Lake a glacier lake situated at 2,034 m of altitude. Here we will benefit from the fresh air and low temperature, admire the view of Trasnsilvania and have lunch.
On the way back we will admire Bâlea waterfall, we'll stop at the Vidraru Dam to refresh us.
It is very possible to meet brown bears on the route.
On our way we will be able to see on a mountaintop a fortress built by Vlad the Impaler. This is Poienari fortress.

A memorable and fun trip. Ionela was our guide for the day. She was kind, a great driver, and very knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed her. We saw 14 brown bears and had a great trip on the transfargarasan highway. It was a beautiful day.

Huge thank you to Alin and Octavian for an incredible day on Transfagarasan Road! We took in all the sights at a very leisurely pace and even saw Brown Bears up close too. Super helpful service and our driver was not only incredibly fun, friendly and knowledgeable but also very conscious of our safety. I have booked quite a few trips before but Dreamlike Journeys & Sebastian are indeed the best not only in Romania but of all of my experiences. I have never seen such incredible customer support and attention to detail before - every part of the experience was beyond expectations. He even sent me a video with the place where we were going filmed by Top Gear! The trip itself was breathtaking and Sebastian was warm, welcoming and knowledgeable - he really makes the Romanian tourist industry proud. This was perhaps the best experience in the mountains and Alin is so funny, I laugh most of the time with him. There are some 3 hours + ok the road but time fly with so great atmosphere and then the landscape is OMG. 100% recomand this guy fot Transfăgărășan!

We've spent a wonderful day traveling from Bucharest to Transfagarasan. Our tour guide was very professional, knowledgeable and funny. He provided us with lots of interesting bits of Romanian history and culture, making the day memorable. The tour was very interesting and yet not tiring, since we had enough stops for refreshing. It was a tour well worth both as time and money.

An extraordinary adventure with a dedicated guide . The view is dreamlike. The road made by Ceaușescu is a true masterpiece, although it can only be visited a few months a year, it is worth every moment. In addition, I had the opportunity to observe several bears on our way to Bâlea Lac. The tour reaches up to about 2040 meters high and from there you can see the famous road. I highly recommend this tour.Thank you Alin for the amazing experience.

My favorite part is the scenic twisties that snake over the landscape. The guide is a special character. Lots of laughs and a relaxed atmosphere.

The trip was extremely nice & we had enough time at every stop, the tour guide was also very friendly & professional, he was excited for the stops as much as we were. We saw a lot of bears on our way to the lake, which was very surprising & nice!
