I landed in Kenya on a layover to Ethiopia and didn’t want to sit around in the airport all day. I booked this tour with Kevin and I was not disappointed. Kevin answered all my questions about Kibera, daily life and struggles as well as shared from his own experience. Kevin took me to a local community school and orphanage and a bone factory in the slums and I was in awe of the stories I was told. I would recommend you using Kevin as your guide in Kenya, he is knowledgeable and will make you feel safe.

We were concerned with the safety of our kids and my parents going into Kibera, Kevin and Ishmael provided a safe environment that showed the true connection and compassion in the community. Everyone that we met was so welcoming. The impact that Kevin is having on his community is incredible. The kids need opportunities to learn in a safe environment with a full belly, they have so much potential. We were deeply moved by this experience and would highly recommend it to anyone. Kevin and Ishmael were so incredible!!

Anyone traveling to Nairobi must take a tour of the Kibera Slum. The guide grew up in the slum, and still lives there (Ismael.). The walk through is very safe as everyone knows the guide and trusts him.

What stuck me most -- the children are running through the dilapidated neighborhood where they can easily fall through holes in sidewalks and but themselves on broken metal roofs and other dangers -- but they smile and enjoy themselves. Also Ismael showed us a school created for orphans, and the cave-like dwellings where the orphans reside. There are kind-hearted people running "pop up" schools with little or no funding -- focusing on raising funds to get the brightest kids out of the slums and into boarding schools. You will feel some hope after the visit, but you'll also wonder why the Kenyan Government can't at least provide clean water, toilets and showers to more people. It is quite frustrating.

I booked Kevin, but it was his brother only. And despite him being very honest and responsive when asked, there was little storytelling.

Despite that, it was such a gift to see the life of Kibera from inside, meet many different people and small community businesses. The experience shaked me to the roots. People here are so talented and eager to blossom, but due to various systemic reasons, are unable to do so. Thank you for opening the inner beuty of what traditionally is considered to be ugly ❤️

On the last day of 2023, I went to Kibera slum together with Philemon. Since I have spent several days on safari and trekking, I want to learn more about the people here, in Nairobi, in Africa. At the very beginning, of course, like many tourists, I was afraid. But when I came with Philemon together, I felt safe and I can imagine that even if I came alone, it should be fine. It is nice to know more about the people, the life here, in the Kibera slum, after talking with Philemon. However, right now, what I can help is little. I think it is an unforgettable memory in my life.

Kevin has one of the most ethically responsible community tours that I've researched.
I was hesitant to book this tour due to ethical considerations but Kevin provided a private tour and was deeply respected by his village. I felt the tour was conducted in a sustainable and responsible way.

Kevin took us to a non for profit orphanage school, we visited a bone crafting workshop and we had tea at Kevin's parents home.
Everyone was extremely welcoming and you can see the work Kevin is doing through his business to contribute to the welfare of others.

I highly recommend this experience with a local guide on a small/private tour.

Thank you Kevin, for sharing your time with me and welcoming us to your community

I would go as far as to say that this was a life changing experience. Certainly eye-opening and humbling. Even though it was not my motivation I was worried that people would see this tour as 'misery tourism'. I am so glad that that didn't stop us doing it. You do not know Kenya if you don't do this trip. It could be argued that you don't know Africa or even the world if you don't do this trip. This man takes you into his family home! He introduces you to his parents! Such an honour and a privilege. The school is both heartbreaking and life affirming. The children are jewels. You will visit another world. It will change you. Don't hesitate, book it now! Steve.

We loved this tour! Kevin picked us up and dropped us back at our hotel. There were only 3 others on the tour - a couple with their 11 year old granddaughter - so it was a very personal experience.

Kevin's brother Ishmael also joined us at Kibera to top and tail the group as we walked through the streets and back alleys. You feel completely safe and welcomed walking round the slum in their company. Kevin has quite the reputation for helping the community, so you are constantly being greeted by friendly residents.

Kevin found out we were musical on the way to Kibera, so asked us to sing for the school children, which was lots of fun and very rewarding. We also enjoyed having tea with his parents and then going to an innovative small business where men were creating jewelry and other products out of cow and camel bones. Out of respect for the residents of Kibera we didn't take photos, so I bought a cool looking bottle opener from the business to remember the day with.

I can highly recommend this tour if you want to see the real Nairobi and learn what life in a slum is really like.
