Ibrahim was an amazing tour guide! He is a true historian, so his level of knowledge of the site and ancient/Turkish history was very enlightening. Ephesus is very crowded and large, so it is important to have someone who knows what they are doing and what they are talking about. We had to buy our tickets to the site but were able to skip the (long) line and start our tour right away. Ibrahim was happy to customize the tour and give more or less information based on our desire - my husband is a history teacher, so we wanted all the history! It was also nice to be able to customize the tour and the order of things based on the heat, the crowds and the time. They were very thoughtful about our interests and comfort. After Ephesus, we had a delicious, authentic Turkish lunch outside at a peaceful rug-making operation. They did a silk-making and weaving demonstration, which I loved! I even got to tie a couple of knots in the rug. The owner gave us free Turkish coffee, apple tea and water after showing us more rugs. We also went to a family ceramic shop and watched a girl make pottery on the wheel. They also offered us free Turkish coffee (on their beautiful ceramics) and water. Their pieces are absolutely gorgeous, and the family has been in the business for 200 years. The hospitality at both places was wonderful. They are trying to sell their goods, so be prepared to buy or to say no - they are very kind even when you decline their sales pitch. But the stuff is definitely worth buying if you are interested. Ibrahim then took us to a lovely hillside village called Sirince, and we had some free time to walk around. They have lots of fruit wine, infused olive oil, souvenirs, a shop that made jewelry for the movie Troy and cool coffee heated in the sand. At the end of the tour, Ibrahim even helped us find our travel agency to secure our ferry tickets. A wonderful tour!! Highly recommend.

Ishmael was a terrific and knowledgeable tour guide. He asked us what we wanted to do and went out of his way to make sure that we saw many historical sites and answered any question that we had. It was a great experience and we hope his water is fixed in his apartment. 😉

We had a great day out with Melis and Yavus. Yavus drove very carefully and we had a very comfortable vehicle. It was so much fun spending time with Melis, who speaks excellent English and she made a real effort to get to know us and gave us a great understanding of life in Turkey and everywhere we visited. We really enjoyed visiting Ephesus and we didn't feel rushed at all. We also had a fantastic lunch and enjoyed walking around the village of Sirince, where we enjoyed trying some local wine and also sweets at another store. We had a fantastic time and being a private tour it felt very personal and we created some great memories.
Melis is a lovely person and anyone would be lucky to spend a day of their holiday with her 😀

My friend and I were aboard the cruise ship Celebrity Infinity. Our guide, Ozzy, greeted us as we got off the ship. We had been to Ephesus before in the heat and crowds. We thought this would be a good option for the second time around. Ozzy took us down a side, less crowded, street. He explained the buildings and statues to us. We also had some free time to explore the Library of Celsus on our own. He took several photos of us in the most picturesque locations. Our driver picked us up and drove us to a private lunch at a school for hand tying Turkish rugs. After a yummy lunch, we were given demonstrations of knot tying and making the silk threads. Next, we drove to the charming hill town of Sirince. After strolling among the shops, we topped off our visit with Turkish coffee heated in sand, and served with water and Turkish Delights. This had been one of the best Viators we have ever been on!
