We were a group of 6 - 2 sets of parents each with an adult "child" in tow - not teenagers as stated above. We had booked a tour guide for a day through our hotel in luxor. Walid, our guide met us at Cairo station with his driver. We began with a concise yet highly interesting visit to the Egyptian Museum -Walid getting it just right as it is a large, overwhelming museum! At our request we set foot in a very peaceful Tarhir (sp) Square where he showed us all the key points of the latests troubles as he is v. passionate about what is happening in his country & we were eager to learn -esp from an Egyptian point of view. We then visited a very quiet Giza - with hardly any tourists at all - all the time being fed interesting info about the country, its culture & its people. Walid even took us to what must be Egypt's equivalent to a fast food joint - to eat "kushry" & PAID for our meal! It was lovely to be shown around Cairo by someone who was happy to answer all sorts of questions about all kinds of topics relating to the culture of his country & what was happening to it now.
We would certainly recommend him as he left us with a better Knowledge & understanding of his fascinating country. Poor Walid very kindly stayed with us until we were safely on our sleeper train back to Luxor as I think he saw the panic on our faces at the thought ofbeing left on our own to find our correct compartment.
