Tour to Taormina where you can visit its famous sites like the Greek theater, the Cathedral and a view on Mount Etna and bay of Giardini Naxos. Continue with a transfer to the town of Castelmola and head back to Messina with a city tour included.

Excellent tour guide! That said, both towns are geared heavily to tourists. Taormina is basically a shopping mall in the form of a village.

Unfortunately the karaoke blasting of music on the return to port was the most memorable. Very little commentary during driving and at drop offs no overview or guidance of attractions. One quote, if you’ve seen one coliseum you’ve seen them all. But if you want to spend your time in line that’s up to you.

We had an excellent experience with our tour guide , Samuel. He was only 18, yet very mature in his ability to handle our small group. There were two ladies (mother and daughter) who were very difficult but he was calm and in control.
We loved both of the towns we visited and would like to return someday!

This for us was not the best tour. Our guide was more interested in talking games with the people in the front of the bus. This tour was more like Messina on your own then with a guide. We did get to see many things but manly we were dropped off, picked up and driven to the next place so we really didn't learn much about the city.

Was a cramped shuttle bus ride up to Castelmola. The views from here were amazing! Felt like Touramina was just a drop off at the very touristy Umberto area. This area had LOTS of hills and stairs. If you want to see the Greek Theater, go there first...long line and entrance ticket needed. It's quite a walk to get there from the drop off point. Also...only had about 2 hours there so not a lot of time. Our tour guides were young and learning. They were pleasant. They just didn't have the experience that a true "native" would have. Basically read from a script. Overall .. I would choose a transport to one or the other and spend longer at one place.

Samuel was a great guide. A talented and motivated 18 year old, he was informative and friendly. Our driver Mario did a great job getting us to and from the sites.

Our tour guide was Michael. He was waiting at the port exit for us and made sure that we knew where to go to find the van. Michael knew the Messina area very well. He gave us the history of Messina and the other 2 towns that we were seeing. We enjoyed our time in both Taormina and Castelmora. We highly recommend this tour and Michael as your tour guide!

I’m using Viator quite often as a replacement to an expensive cruise shore excursion and generally I’m very happy. This is the first time I have to write a negative review. The guides were young people with no experience and terrible English. They didn’t had to much knowledge about the place and not about how to behave as a tour guides. At the two stops we had they didn’t wait for the group to gather so about a half of the group missed the information which was mostly technical (meeting hours, food options etc). More over the tour was not suitable for elderly and disabled travelers and this was mentioned no where. So some of the travelers couldn’t climb to Taormina and were left behind. I want to mention that there is an option for the buses to reach the top but I guess that because of costs issues this was not offered even not as an option. The bottom line - Don’t be tempted to purchase this tour.
