Tour was fine but the miscommunication about the start time was terrible. We got email saying 9:30 and arrived at 9:15. Entire rest of the the bus was told 8am. They were all angry at us! Tour guide refused to explain the mix up.

My wife and I booked the Best of Taormina excursion. Miriam was our tour guide, and was an absolute delight! She was very knowledgeable about the history of Sicily giving us an overview as we made our way from Messina to Taormina. Miriam was also very professional and personable and the time seemed to fly by as we learned so much about the area. She explained what to expect when we got to Taormina, which was early morning (9am-ish), and we were free to tour the city on our own. I was glad we got there early because by late morning there was one guided tour after another, and the main promenade was getting crowded. The thing that impressed me the most though was the passion that Miriam had for telling us about Sicily, and it was sad when the tour ended.

Let me preface this by saying, we really enjoyed the town of Taormina and would recommend seeing it. HOWEVER, we were expecting a tour there as indicated by the title. Our tour guide spoke a little about Messina and Sicily in general as we drove from the port to Taormina. Once we arrived, he just dropped us off, told us to meet back in 3 hours and disappeared. We had NO tour in Taormina and just had to wander the town on our own. Therefore we did not need 3 hours for this. Very disappointing.

They moved the time up by 5 hours with very little notification. We missed the tour because of this and they refused to refund us. We had to pay another driver to bring us to Taormina. Use the local taxi's just outside the port.

We had such a beautiful morning! It took a minute to find the pick-up point but when we did, we met Michele. What a delight! She narrated our entire ride to Taormina on Sicily (via Messina, where our shopped docked) and we learned an amazing amount about the Island. We arrived a bit before all the shops opened, so we had a gelato and then walked up and down the most darling streets - balconies with flowers, wonderful upscale shops and delicious restaurants with amazing views! We had 3 hours to ourselves and loved every minute of it! It was the perfect tour! Thank you, Viator!

Total waste of money. They bring you to Taormina at 9am before anything is open and depart at 11am before you can even have lunch so you are back in Messina by noon. Our cruise ship was not departing until 4:30pm. We ended up taking a taxi back on our own. Other people were upset as well. It is cheaper and easier to get a taxi at the cruise port, there are plenty, and take a taxi back when you want to. Don’t book!!!

Beautiful. Get there early to avoid the crowds. If you can go on Sunday, you can go inside all the beautiful churches.
