Because if you go to the lavender fields to take pictures, the golden light is between 8pm and 9:30pm. During the day the light is very strong and it can be very hot. We will leave Aix-en-Provence at 4:45pm so we can catch the nice sunset when we get to Valensole plateau. The trip to get there is around 45 minutes.
You will be surrounded by fields of lavender, the famous Provençal scented plant, abound here.
We will also stop in a lavender distillery along the way where you have the opportunity to buy products directly from the producers; and we will leave you some free time in the village of Valensole.
The best time for lovers of typical Provençal landscapes to visit is middle of June to end of July, when Valensole plateau is awash with beautiful blue lavender in bloom. It's a sight – and scent – to behold!

The lavender fields were gorgeous, and we got to see several different fields and spend some time taking photos and soaking up the experience. And it was especially beautiful in the latter part of the day with the afternoon and evening light. It will harvested soon , so I was very happy I got to see them.
Otherwise, Our tour guide was running late to pick us up at the meeting point. There was no real “guiding” or sharing information with us about the area and the history; it was really just the transport and a means to an end to see the lavender. So in that regards, it was worth it.
Also, take some food with you and don’t rely on being able to grab something along the way.

Perfect trip! We had a wonderful time and tooo amazing pictures! We were visiting an organic store and village as well as different lavender fields.

If you want to see as many lavender fields as possible, do this tour! I enjoyed the sunset golden hour at the various fields. We even got a chance to take pictures with sunflowers. We made a few spots to buy local lavender products, honey and oils. Enjoyable tour!

It was a very hot day and A/C in our van was not good at all. We were all very hot but the lavender was beautiful and we were taken to many fields and were not rushed.
