If the Inca Trail is on your bucket list then don't hesitate to book with Vidal Expeditions. Great communication and planning before we arrived in Peru and throughout the entire trek.
The Chef and his Team of Porters are very attentive and cook up some delicious food on the trail - they even baked a cake for my birthday! We were in a small group (one other couple) always felt safe and in great hands. Vidal has extensive experience living and working on the trail.
To enhance the experience be sure to get in shape, make sure you have the necessary kit and try to arrive in Cusco a few days prior to acclimatise. You will not be disappointed.

Just finished the 4 day trek to Machu Picchu (plus ascent to Huayna Picchu,) with Vidal himself with 6 other travelers and it was a terrific experience. The entire porter team and chef (Besente was his name) was fantastic and cooked for us some terrific meals. Better than you could hope for in the middle of the Peruvian jungles and mountains! Everything from hospitality, food, accommodations, information, sights, overall experience, and of course our fearless capitano Vidal was really top notch. Thank you again, Vidal expeditions!

I did the 4-day Inca Trail trekking with Vidal himself, owner of the company, as a guide.
The experience was unbeatable. He knows and perfectly controls all the details of trekking, which generates a great feeling of comfort. He made sure that all participants felt good and that no one was left behind or isolated. In addition, he integrates with the group by being another member, participating in the activities, conversations, or games that the group played in their moments of rest.
He even solved problems that were generated by the company with which I contracted the activity, from Spain. (Things totally unrelated to him and his team)
The team of porters behaved excellently at all times, with the great and hard work they do.
Vicente, cook and leader of this team, offered us the best meals I had in all of Peru.
Without a doubt, if you are looking to make this wonderful experience, Vidal Expeditions is the best possible option.

The hike was challenging for me as senior citizen being 69-1/2 years old. I’m in good condition for my age but it was no “walk in the park.” That combined with the high altitude, abundance of steps (most with a rise well over 8”) and rain which made the stepping stone’s slippery presented a good work out which I thoroughly enjoyed making the trek somewhat technical.
Vidal was an excellent guide and expert on the trails. He assisted my wife who had more difficulty navigating the trail. Vidal was very patient, lended great tips on making the hike easier for us, and very knowledgeable about the fauna and flora we encountered along the way. Moreover, Vidal is personable and speaks English very well since our Spanish is limited.
The views and vistas along the way were absolutely stunning. The highlight of the hike was seeing Machu Picchu for the first time from the Sun Gate. Unfortunately, we had to contend with the clouds covering the site but we were able to see the ruins of Machu Picchu intermittently. The amazing thing about it is that only 250/50,000 guests per day get to see Machu Picchu in all its glory from that vantage point at the Sun Gate. I quickly realized how fortunate we were to experience it in this manner. Moreover, at the end of the hike, Vidal led us on a tour of the ruins and we learned a lot about Incan history, culture, and way of life. Vidal knows his stuff and was able to tell us about the Incan Empire and their lives at Machu Picchu and beyond. Additionally, the hike was cost effective and fun. The snacks and meals were nutritious and delicious. I recommend Vidal Expeditions without reservation!

We had to go to Machu Picchu through the Classic Inca Trail 4-Day with Nico as our guide. This was an incredible experience in a small group with only 4 people. The porters team did everything perfect (tents, food, and whole logistics) in 4 days. Nico was incredible, informative, and motivated us to complete the hike.The stunning views on each corner and the breathtaking vista of Machu Picchu on the final day were worth it.Vidal Expeditions is a great local tour operator who cares for their workers and customers during their excursions.We definitely recommend them!

I went to Machu Picchu to hike through the Inca Trail. There were only 5 people in the group, and this was the best experience I've ever had. The food was incredible and very varied; I can't believe how they made all those.
The guide, Marco Antonio, did a great job leading us during the four days of the tour. He was very patient and knowledgeable about the history, biodiversity, tradition, and culture. 5/5 for him.
We were always the first group arriving at the Inca sites and campsites, avoiding the crowds, thanks to our guide and porter team, who did a wonderful job.
The trail itself is very pretty, with a lot of things to see, learn, and connect with nature.
All the thanks to Vidal Expeditions and Marco Antonio for this unforgettable experience in Peru, and I can't forget the chef Julio and his porter team.

The guide and the staff with us made the hike an unforgettable experience during these four day to Machu Picchu. Our guide Jose Antonio was so friendly and informative, he always look after us. Miguel the cook provided us amazingly great food three meals at day 10/10 service in our opinion.
Vidal Expeditions is a small local company funded by a local tour guide who is doing great work supporting his company and offering the best services on their different tours. And the reason we booked with them was because they are supporting local people, those who have been forgotten by some authorities.
We definitely will recommned them!!

What a fantastic trek, we booked
the 4 day inca trek to Machu
Picchu and were met by Francisco
our guide and his amazing team
of porters. It's incredible how hard
these porters work, lugging all
your belongings, tents, and food
up the mountains each day. Food
was excellently prepared by the
chef and plentiful, really tasty
soups too, you won't go hungry.
Our guide Francisco really made
the trip memorable, he was so
attentive ensuring we took things
slow where needed, he is incredibly
knowledgeable and clearly loves
what he does. My companion was
struggling with altitude which lead to us having to abort the trek
as planned after day one, but
Francisco arranged it so that we
could still continue trekking but on the lower original Inca trail which
was very much appreciated by us
both as we still wanted to continue
trekking. We still had a fantastic
trip , seeing things from a different
perspective lower down. We really
Learnt alot about the Inca culture,
plants, animals and ruins along
the way. It was really sad to say
goodbye to the crew as you really
feel like lifelong friends. Please do
tip big to the entire team as they
truly deserve it!
