Our trip starts from Elafonisi, the most breathtaking destination of the day. Swim in shallow turquoise waters, explore the fine pink sand and the exotic small lagoons, ideal for children.The tour goes on west to Falasarna, a white sandy beach famous for the clear turquoise blue sea, the locals' favourite beach. Our final stop, Vouves, is the place, where we visit the oldest olive tree in the world and the Olive Tree Museum. There we will have the opportunity to taste cretan olive oil!

1. Elafonissi Beach
Off the southwestern tip of Crete, about 75 kilometers from Chania town, lies Elafonisi beach and small island. It is within walking distance from the mainland, sometimes without even getting one’s toes wet. It was once used by pirates to hide their loot (lafyra) and that is how it got its name. The island (about 1.3 km long and 400 meters wide) is a protected nature reserve and boasts one of the finest sand beaches in the country. More than that, Elafonisi is the only Greek contender in a Tripadvisor list of the world’s 25 best beaches for 2014. This is to be expected: blindingly white-pink sand, turquoise-white lagoon-like waters that ripple as they pick up the breeze, an exotic place with sporadic vegetation against the stark bareness of the Cretan mountains. On the island discover numerous small coves, sandy beaches and interesting rock formations. It is also home to 110 plant species including the protected Androcymbium rechingeri, which is as rare as it sounds.
2. Falassarna Beach
Falasarna beach is located in the western part of Crete, about 53 km from the town of Chania and 13 km from the town of Kissamos. Quite popular with day trippers, its stunning beaches and clear turquoise blue sea are unique. It has received many awards for its beauty, amenities and services enjoyed by the visitor. The long sandy beach is one of its most important advantages, as it offers the chance to the visitors to enjoy it, even in the high season period. Swimming in the crystal clear turquoise waters of the beach, will make anyone feel the ultimate pleasure. Its beach is fully organized with umbrellas and sun beds in its biggest part. However, there are several free spots for those who prefer to put their own umbrella and towel on the sand. What will impress you the most, is the charming and unique sunset, one of the most beautiful in Greece. The sunset there is really impressive, as there is nothing to obstruct your field of view between the beach and the horizon.
3. The Monumental Olive Tree of Vouves
The Olive tree of Vouves is probably one of the oldest olive trees in the world, which remains productive to this day. The exact age of the tree cannot be determined. While tree ring analysis demonstrated the tree to be at least 2000 years old, scientists from the University of Crete have estimated it to be 4000 years old. In 1997 it was declared a protected natural monument and, in October 2009, the Olive Tree Museum of Vouves was inaugurated in a nearby 19th-century house, displaying traditional tools used in the process of olive cultivation. As of the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, olive branches “kotinos” from this ancient olive tree were used for the wreath of Marathon winners in every Olympic game. Every year over 20,000 people from all over the world visit this ancient tree.

I highly recommend this tour. The tour guide, Christine, is lovely and provides very informative and interesting narrative along the way. Communication before the trip was also excellent. The tour also includes drinks and snacks, as well as a beach mat and beach umbrella which saves you a bit of money. The beaches are of course spectacular and the timings of the tour schedule flow smoothly, with a decent chunk of time at each place. Overall, this small group tour is well worth doing if you want to visit both Elafonisi and Falarsarna and also learn a bit about Crete on the way.

Christine took such great care of our group of 10 on this well planned tour!

Elafonisi really does have pink sand and Falassarna was a beautiful beach with deeper water for swimming. We were provided with matts and umbrellas to make the beach more comfortable and given 2hrs at each beach.

Christina was always offering us cold water and the food was great!

We enjoyed learning about various aspects of Cretan culture such as the olive oil making process. Christine also recommended some great seafood restaurants to us.

Je recommande à 200% cette excursion : Amin, super guide, a mis tout son cœur à nous transmettre plein d'informations sur la Crète et à répondre à nos questions, nous nous sommes sentis en totale sécurité conduits par l'excellent Costa, et grâce à la parfaite organisation de la journée nous avons eu le privilège de découvrir le petit paradis qu'est Elafonissi AVANT l'arrivée des bus : extraordinaire ! Cette journée était fantastique !! Un grand merci à Christine pour son accueil chaleureux, organisation et petit cadeau ainsi que à toute son équipe :) Continuez comme cela c'est parfait !

Elafonisi is a beautiful beach and our tour guide got us there first to see if without alot of people. We left just as everyone was arriving. He was very knowledgeable and was a great tour guide We loved the olive plant too. Take this tour its beautiful.

This day tour was a great experience. Christine was a friendly, knowledgeable and attentive guide, and her pride for her hometown shows :) The food provided was good, plus plenty of drinks offered before and after the two beach stops. Our driver Kostas was excellent and we felt very safe and taken care of the entire day. We had a good amount of time to experience the beaches (which I’m sure we would have not made it to otherwise, since we didn’t rent a car for our visit), both of which were uniquely beautiful and enjoyable. There was an additional stop at an olive oil factory, which included a tasting after learning about the history and production process. It was interesting, informative, and also nice to break up the drive time on the winding mountain roads a bit more. Communication before the day was prompt and clear, plus Christine obliged our request for her recommendations of best Cretan restaurants in our area afterwards. A great day all in all, and worth the money for the amount we experienced and learned in a short time!

A top class tour. Our guide and driver were very professional and the organisation of itinerary, food and equipment flawless. Would thoroughly recommend this trip to see these beautiful beaches after an amazing drive through Topolia Gorge spotting soaring eagles above us!

The tour is one of the best organized & hosted tours we have taken. It is a fantastic way to see both Elafonisi & Falasarna beaches. It is absolutely stress free compared with renting a car and doing it yourself. You are provided everything you need for the beach (umbrella, beach mats, box lunch & drinks in a small cooler bag) . The stop in Vouves to see the oldest olive tree in the world was also super interesting. Christine who leads the tour is from Crete and shares interesting stories throughout including how important the olive tree is to the Cretan people.

The bus is extremely comfortable and after seeing the roads and parking at Elafonisi , I was thrilled not to be driving ! We arrived early at Elafonisi and you are dropped off right at the top of the path to the beach. Getting there early is really good as you visit before it gets too busy. Second stop at Falasarna is definitely worth it. The water is truly crystal clear & the colors of blue are mesmerizing. We did not feel rushed or hurried at any point. The group was also relaxed with visitors from France,Germany, U.K. and United States.

A shoutout to SeaByBus & Christine for a fantastic & memorable day in Crete.

Fantastic way to see the country side and the top tourist spots near Chania. Christine our tour guide really made the trip. We learned alot about Crete. Had we done this tour we would have 'seen' the places but would not have had the same understanding about what we saw and the way of life in Crete. Highly recommended.

This was a tour to remember! Our hosts, Christine and Thanasis were so knowledgeable, friendly, and made sure we had a good time. Beautiful scenery, comfortable transportation, delicious lunch included, and never a moment did we feel rushed! Thank you for making my visit to Crete one that I will never forget!
