Get a comfortable travel, close to nature and very nice day out to visit the legend of Cu Chi tunnel by over 1 hour speedboat ride along Saigon River. Exploring the Area of Steel in the war time with its 200km tunnel network which considered as the unbreakable underground village and learn how the local people live is in the harsh condition of the war time and how powerful they were.

Fantastic day out. Went on a tour with les rives to the cu chi tunnels. The service was great, pick up at 7.00am in nice air condition van and taken to the port to get on speed boat. Food was served along with fruit and cold drinks whilst we travel 1.15 minutes to get to the tunnels.
It was such an amazing experience with a good English speaking tour guide who shared all her knowledge. Once the tour was complete lunch was served with a good range of foods to choose from.
The boat ride back was a little more interesting given that we ended up in the middle of a storm but again tour guides were quick to hand out ponchos!
Highly recommend this service as nothing was too much trouble

We started our morning with an hour transfer in speed boat to Cu Chi tunnels. They are 85km away but travelling by boat took no time at all and you could also see different parts of Saigon!
The tunnels itself is a great experience. We started with propaganda movie which was created to attract more people to join Viet Cong
We all tried to get into the tunnels and close the roof over the head! They are so narrow!
Then we walked in the tunnels or actually crawled on heads and knees. There is a choice to do 20,40 or 100m distance!
There is a very interesting display of different traps set up against Americans in the jungles .

We did the trip to Cu Chi Tunnels via speed boat which I would totally recommend. It is the fastest and coolest way to get there. The tunnels themselves are incredible. The history and the ingenuity of the Vietnamese people is beyond belief. Even if you are claustrophobic you can get a great understanding of the way the tunnels worked and the way they lived.
Do not go to Ho Chi Minh and miss this experience.

The boat trip from Ho Chi Minh City to the Cu Chi tunnels was super fun with our amazing guide, Chi. We were provided with delicious fruits (tiniest bananas I've ever seen, but oh so sweet!) and amazing pastries on the boat. The tunnels themselves are an incredible feat of human creativity and determination. Although the film at the end of the tour is an obvious attempt at propaganda, one can't help but admire the work done by the North Vietnamese in completing these tunnels.

We travelled by early morning speedboat, a good decision as it avoids the tourist hoards that arrive by coach later in the day. The two way river ride is excellent and gives some non-city insights into Vietnamese life.
The tunnels certainly present a different view of the ‘American’ war as it’s called in Vietnam, but maybe the sight is rather touristy for humble travellers. The whole 250 km tunnel system is not actually a single system, but a linked collection of small zones that took over 20 years to complete and for which there is no masterplan, and no map. They’re also tiny in height and width, so if you’re a large non-Vietcong soldier then you have no chance to enter them.
