The time you select will be your Alcatraz ferry departure.
The ferry will leave on time at the specific time you booked from Pier 33.
You have the flexibility to take the Bay cruise on any day at any available departure time. These are 2 separate tours. Children 4 years and younger are free and do not need tickets.

On Alcatraz Island you are given an audio guide and can explore the railings on your own. It is not as spectacular, however. The booking also includes a second boat trip that you can take from a different ferry dock. It takes 1 hour to the Golden Gate Bridge, then to Alcatraz Island and towards the other large bridge in the city.

Great tour TAKE A JACKET!!!! LOL Must see place when in San Fransisco. Tour Guide was very informative and you could take a much time as you wanted. Was quite a walk up the hill but they do have a tram for Handicap.
Also toured the harbor on the way back and went under the Golden Gate Bridge. It was very cold on the water.

Seeing the cells is a scary experience. The boat ride has incredible panoramic views. Food should be added as gratitude in the boat

I forgot to organise Alcatraz tickets, they were booked out by the time I got onto sorting it out so thought to check the tour companies - luckily, this option of combined Alcatraz and Bay Cruise was available for the next day! Great option. The ferries are fun and functional (don’t expect anything fancy), the self-guided tour is all you really need for Alcatraz, and the views of Alcatraz as you go past after going under the Golden Gate Bridge are superb. Great to see both pier 33 and 39, and the sea lions. Quick walk between the two piers. A great experience!

If you're going to San Francisco it's probably worth seeing but you won't get anything like a personal experience with the basic day tour. The boat and island were very busy and it felt like the focus was on getting as many people through, rather than the quality of experience. The audio tour is ok and you see a few interesting bits of the prison but it's not exactly immersive.
