Freddy, who lives in Kibera, gave us a personal tour, including a shop which makes bone jewelry and another shop which makes beads out of paper. We visited a school room and other such places, and Freddy took us to his own home. It was a lot of walking, sometimes on narrow paths next to open sewer ditches, so you'll want to have good walking shoes.

I was amazed to see how this community comes together to support each other. The people are hard working, the children happy and friendly. The parents send their children go to school and the children greeted us in English with big happy smiles. Our guides were excellent. They were informative and we felt welcomed and safe throughout the tour.

We booked last minute and it was a great decision. The tour guide Paul was awesome !!! We went to Kibera and it was a lot of fun to see how people leave there and have their small little businesses . Also we asked if we could ride on the local bus that has very loud music with lots of TVs screens , he was able to arrange it and it was a wild drive to experience it with the local people . If you never seen the slams you definitely should consider using this company and definitely request for Paul.

Wow! Is the only way I can describe my experience touring kibera. TOM my tour operator was outstanding in proving background history and knowledge of kibera. Tom linked us with Willie, our local kibera guide and my experience elevated even more. Willie is still a resident and his presence allowed me to see and interact with the community in a way that I wouldn't have been allowed to do without him. Willie even took me to his home, introduced me to his family and allowed me to the essence of how the people in kibera live day to day. Highly recommend

This thought provoking and moving tour allows a visitor to truly see both the visual definition of poverty, as well as the strength of the human spirit to survive. If one is visiting Kenya, I believe this tour should be a must on their itinerary. Our tour took place both inside a vehicle and by walking. Our driver, George, and our walking guide, Willis, were excellent guides, offering honest and direct answers to our questions. This is certainly a tour that cannot be experienced vicariously. Seeing, hearing, smelling and feeling the essence of poverty, combined with the people's determined efforts to live and survive is worth every moment of the tour.

Paul was my driver and guide for this interesting and insightful tour. He asked probing questions of me to custom-tailor the experience, and he prepared me for what I might encounter. He arranged a tour of the orphanage with its director Wilson Andrew. The children were delightful, thriving in desperate conditions. He then arranged a walking tour with Willie, a Kibera resident, who took me through the walkways of this vast community. They all looked after me, and I felt totally safe. Paul also asked what I’d like to do outside of Kibera, and I accepted some of his suggestions, making it a wonderful first day in Nairobi.

Paul the driver took me through the roads to the slum and have me alot of good detail on the area and the people that live there before we picked up the local guide Walter. This information was a great background to the walking tour to help me get the most from the tour as we went through the area to get a general feel for the area and how the people live. We didn't stop into the schools or homes but I got a great insight into how everyone lives day-to-day. It was a humbling experience with the locals either happy to see me or totally not bothered. Paul them dropped me to the airport and even stopped in a shop for me on the way as we continued to discuss and I learnt about Kenyan people and politics. A very enjoyable trip that I would highly recommend.

The tour itself was amazing, we felt safe with the tour guide and were witness to an intensity of slums I have not previously experienced. The floor was a sea of discarded plastic that swayed in the wind and the rusted tin roofs seemed to stretch endlessly.
We went for a tour of a children’s care facility and were taken for a personalised tour by a local, both of which experiences expected a donation. We had no issues donating but would have liked more warning that this was going to be the case.
Paying in cash is also a fair bit cheaper than booking through TripAdvisor which we nearly did, so heads up on that.
