Every year Balos lagoon is on the top best beaches of the World. This unique cruise is a very fun and easy way to discover this hidden paradise. The combination of the unique scenery and the crystal clear waters of this place is what makes it perfect. During the ferry ride one can admire the phenomenon called ‘’Elevation of Crete’’ which you can see clearly at the cliff edges of this side. At the Gramvousa island a venetian fortress is to be found from where the views are more than spectacular. A tour that is not to be missed!!

Signed up for a 5 hour boat trip with 50 people, but it was an 11 hour ferry trip with approx 1000 people.

From the ferry to the first beach the terrain was very rough and potentially challenging, the second beach required us to jump off the back door of a ferry into 6 foot deep water and to travel 10 meters whilst balancing your bag on either your head or shoulder, to get to the beach, the terrain was worse than the first beach and then we spent the rest of our time on that beach planning and worrying about how we were going to get back on to the boat!

On a positive the staff were really friendly on the ferry and the beaches were lovely... once we got to them.

The ferry crossing was smooth and the staff helpful. My issue is with the terrain where the ferry docks. There is no jetty or boardwalk. My other issue is the volume of tourists. I think smaller groups would be a better idea. It seems like the tour groups are only interested in making as much money as possible instead of protecting the environment.
