We came to Cancún with our two young daughters. We wanted them to get out of the resort and learn a bit about Mayan culture and history. We did not want to waste time on a crowded bus spending time with drop offs and pick ups so we booked this private tour. It was the best decision and the highlight of our visit to Mexico! Julio picked us up bright and early at our hotel and we headed into the Yucatan. He taught us so many things about the history of the area on the way to Chichen Itza. We were one of the first people into the site and he showed us everything and explained all the details of each ruin all before the crowds and heat arrived. Then we went to valladolid for a late breakfast at a hotel restaurant which was very delicious! We wanted to buy some Mexican dresses and he showed us some shops. Finally the Cenote to cool off after all the explorations. It was incredible! What a wonderful day with Julio! It was like having a family friend show you around town! I highly recommend this tour for the most enjoyable experience!

My wife & I did a private tour with Allen of Mexico Highlights. He picked us up at our hotel. I was in a wheel chair & she has hearing aids. I got to have 5 hrs. of conversation re: Mayan culture,. religion, life, etc. which really enhanced the Chichen experience. Allen pushed me in the chair; my wife wouldn't have been able to do that with that terrain. He & Joel talked to us; neither of us had to ask them to repeat anything. Allen was extremely courteous, and yet very personable. The lunch buffet was spectacular. He introduced us to all the buffet items including how they were made. It was a fantastic experience, far beyond our expectations. A small, but great company to work with.

Very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide (Hisa), comfortable and safe drive, cenote was great and we were able to spend as much time as we wanted there. The flexibility of the tour was great.

This was an amazing day! Alan, our guide, was the best. He was kind and funny. He made us feel like we were friends instead of clients. He allowed us to be flexible with our schedule since it was just me and my husband on this tour. He drives very safely and we got to each destination in great time. Alan has a lot of information about all of our sites and places we passed on the way. He was a great photographer when we wanted a picture of the two of us. He had great recommendations throughout the day. Our guide in Chichen Itza, Joel, was great, too. He was so knowledgeable and passionate about the culture and history of the Maya. He showed us the photos and videos to accompany the topics of discussion at the site on his iPad. That was nice as opposed to some guides who had laminated cards. The lunch in Valladolid was delicious. The cenote was beautiful and refreshing. We went at the perfect time because we were the only ones there at the time we arrived! It was awesome to have a personal experience throughout the entire day.

This was a Fantastic experience from start to finish! Mexico Highlights communicated the details of the trip very well, and sent reminders when appropriate. Our guide Julio was a genuine and caring local who was very accommodating in providing a unique and individualized experience. He was extremely knowledgeable about the sites we visited and the history of the ancient cities. It was like having a local and informed family member along for the trip. We took a couple of small detours at our request to see other areas and Julio knew just where to go. I was originally interested in only the Chitzen-Itza leg of the tour, but the cenote and the old Spanish Villiage with lunch at a local restaurant were both parts I would visit again.
This is definitely the company to use for any adventure, and I will trust them with our next adventures in Mexico!

My boyfriend and I had an amazing day with our guide Hisa! He was so personable and knew so much about history, archeology, and anthropology. He answered any question we had not just about Mexico, but Spain and other empires around South America as well.
Our guide picked us up right at our Airbnb in downtown Cancún and provided us with some history of the area. It was a smooth trip to Chichen Itza and we escaped all the lines and crowds. We have some great pictures of just us with no one in the background! Next we drove to Valladolid and got dropped off right at the restaurant Hisa recommended since it was raining. He told us about the history of the city as we drove through so we didn’t feel like we missed too much due to the rain. Finally we went to Xux Ha Cenote which we had completely to ourselves! The ride back was smooth again. The water provided all day was greatly appreciated! We arrived back around 5pm and couldn’t have had a better day!

We decided to book one day trip while in Playa Del Carmen and are so glad we did. This private tour was totally worth the price. We were picked up at our Airbnb and got an early start out to Chichen Itza. We beat most of the crowds (and for low season, it got full quick!). Eduardo was so knowledgeable and gave us all kinds of history and insight on our trip out. We had a great tour and afterwards visited a local place for traditional Mexican food. It felt like we were part of their family - the place all to ourselves and food was fantastic. From there we visited Valladolid which I was pleasantly happy to see! Very cool town and different from Playa. We were able to stay as long as we wanted and then hit the road for the cenote!! Definitely a highlight and so beautiful. We were the only people there for almost the whole visit. It was really special honestly. I would do it again and highly recommend. Thank you to the Mexican Highlights team!!

We had an incredible time! This was absolutely worth it - so much better than a big tour bus. Our guide was really amazing... knowledgeable, so friendly, and went out of his way to make sure we had a great time. 10/10 recommend

Must book this trip! Hisa is the best tour guide we met. He is very knowledgeable on history and local areas and made a lot of recommendation to us. You also enjoy comfortable, customized journey all the time at you own pace. It is indeed more expensive than group tour but it totally worths it!
