pick-up at your hotel in Nairobi between 06:00 and 06:30am, and then escape the city on a 2.5-hour drive to Lake Nakuru National Park. Stop at the Lake Nakuru view point on the way for remarkable views of the Great Rift Valley landscape.

On arrival at Lake Nakuru National Park, embark on a 4-hour game drive. Get the chance to see some of Kenya's remarkable bird life on the beautiful lakes of the Great Rift Valley, and keep your eyes open for other wildlife grazing along the shore, including some of Africa’s famous game animals. Lake Nakuru earned its reputation as the home of one of the greatest bird spectacles on earth when, often more than a million, pink flamingos flock to feed in the shallow warm waters.

Break for lunch in one of the lodges in the park before embarking on another game drive. Depending on how much wildlife you encounter, leave the park between 15:00 and 16:00 to arrive back in Nairobi for hotel drop off between 18:00 and 19:00.

We spent our last day in Kenya with Alex. He was at our hotel right when he said he would be and provided us a safe trip through the Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru. He asked if we wanted to stop for photos at the escarpment and when we realized we’d forgotten something he was happy to pull off so we could purchase the item. Alex suggested we take a water safari on Lake Naivasha and arranged it for the same day, after we’d had lunch. On that trip we saw a baby hippo! Alex captured a few photos and videos of us and shared them after. We had booked the trip through Viator and while it listed that bottled water would be provided on the trip, it wasn’t. We were prepared anyway but just something to note.
Also we felt a little uninformed about how the process worked so we called Viator the night before to make sure our driver knew where we were and how to reach us. The person who answered the phone at Viator said she would pass our number off to Alex but the hotel rang our room so I don’t know if that exchange happened.
But what really mattered is we had a safe and fun day seeing monkeys, baboons, Buffalo, hippos, flamingos and all their friends in Lake Nakuru and we didn’t have to drive!
