Departures planned from Piano Provenzana with off-road vehicles along the panoramic path that leads up to the north side of Mt. Etna, through ancient craters and recent lava flows up to 2825 mt. Then we start the ascent (470mt positive level difference) on foot on a path surrounded by volcanic bombs and scoria, till we will reach the Central Crater at a height of 3300 mt, where we will stop to admire the greatness,the uniqueness and the processes of this extraordinary volcanic environment, combined with the spectacle of the panorama that can be enjoyed from the roof of Sicily (the visibility might change according to weather or volcanic conditions). The descent goes back along the same path, while the last part will be made inside little channels constituted by soft and friable volcanic scoria, on which you can walk easily without any problem adopting the necessary precautions, till a height of 2825 mt where we will get the off road vehicles for the trip back down to Piano Provenzana.

• Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
• For the success of the excursion and for its correct carrying out, it’s good to know perfectly your health conditions and, if necessary, let the Guides know about them, in order to reduce the occurrence of any problem and to avoid any risks.
• We recommend not to use contact lenses, because of the exhaled volcanic gases and of ash. This last one could easily cause problems, if pushed.
• This type of itinerary, in relation to the type, is suited to people in good physical health, not suffering from particular disease (it is strongly discouraged to those who suffer from cardio-vascular problems, breathing problems or hypertension).
• The excursion is not suited for children under 12 years old
• The excursion will be carried out according to the limits laid down by the ordinance in force.
• The excursion could be subjected to variations at the discretion of the Guides, or it could be interrupted in case of changes of the environmental, climatic or volcanic conditions, so as to undermine the safety of the entire group.
• It is required also to be careful, since it is volcanic soil, often inconsistent and unstable.
• The excursion requires a good preparation on a physical level. Because of it results to be a high height path, it would be easy to experience symptoms of fatigue.
• Trekking is not recommended for those who does not do physical activity regularly.

Very professional tour to Etna summit. The guide was very professional and had good knowledge about volcanoes and Etna. He took good care of everyone and cared about safety. In case you miss your equipment, they have everything you need (we had to pay nothing extra for hiking poles and a jacket).
The tour itself is nice and gives you full experience of Etna. Also the trekking down is fun - you can slide down the mountain.

If you are looking to climb on the Etna DON'T LOOK FURTHER ! When we arrived in the region we only knew that we wanted to visit the Etna but how and where was still to be defined. We were planning on doing it ourselves via the North side but we are VERY happy we didn't.
We booked our excursion last minute and everything exceeded our expectations: Daniele (our guide) was an expert in volcano's and gave us tons of precious explanations during the full ascension; the extra gear (backpacks, walking sticks, walking shoes, jackets,...) you could get, included in the price of the excursion, were a great ad as you usually don't carry those when coming to visit Sicily and lastly the fact that we did the northern side of the Volcano was THE BEST decision we could make. We were a very small group of tourists, no crowed busses or people queuing to have a view, we felt alone and privileged to enjoy the silence (and lava noises) without being disturbed.
Shortly: Take this excursion and don't try to go to the top on your own, the personal challenge is there (6h of walking up apparently) but you would miss all the best views and seeing the crater.
