Samba Schools start their preparation several months before the Carnival Parade. The Samba Rehearsals start in August.
Arriving at the Samba School Rehearsal a comfortable table will be waiting for you.
This unforgettable night will start with a Brazilian Music Band.
Enthusiastic Dancers, talents musicians will introduce you into the magical Samba and Carnival world.
Around 00:00 AM will be the Top of the night, the presentation of the “Bateria” (percussion orchestra). Sixty percussion instruments played simultaneously in perfect harmony create a contagious and energetic rhythm called Samba.
At 1:00 am we will take you and your group back to your accommodation.
Without a doubt, you will remember this night forever!! The Samba School Rehearsal it’s not just a show, it’s a cultural experience that you can´t miss in your visit to Rio de Janeiro.

This would have been a five star, wild and crazy adventure EXCEPT Viator completely overcharged for it. I paid $99 per person for the event and an additional $27 per person for two of us to have a private/small group ride to and from the event.
As it turned out, we were picked up by a van and had to drive quite out of our way to pick up other passengers during a high traffic time. We were on the van for over an hour, arrived late to the show and had some difficulty getting a table.
Adding insult to injury, our hotel was offering the very same experience for R$150,00, which is $30 person in US$ and it included transfer, ticket and guide. So, I paid $252 for what should have been $60. To put it mildly, it soured my mood for the event, which I managed to enjoy despite the massive ripoff.
My advice, don’t play anything in advance of your trip. And definitely don’t purchase from Viator.

Our guide Lully was simply wonderful! In addition to telling us about the true history of Samba, he was a photographer, took us to meet samba celebrities, and on top of that we were in the middle of the drums! Friendly, cheerful and intelligent! Lully made the tour unforgettable and was present without being inconvenient!
My husband and I highly recommend the tour and our guide!

Really great time. I picture a few people sharing in a dancing experience where you learn some moves. This was a building with a large hall, two levels, a band and several thousand people.

It was amazing! Being at school and feeling all the energy is unique. All the attention and support given by Lully is very good. Very attentive to tourists.

I enjoyed samba a lot!! It was beautiful, fun and upbeat. Would 100% go again. I even learned a little samba to where I could come back and teach my friends and family...
