In the afternoon you will be picked up from your hotel in Marsa Alam and taken to our brand new Carnellia meeting point, where you will begin your 2.5 hour journey into the heart of the desert. First, drive your quad about 25-30 km between the mountains of the eastern desert to Bedouin village to visit a Bedouin tribe and learn more about their life and traditions (houses, food, education, religion, etc.).) You have the option to taste a Bedouin tea and smoke a hookah. You can also ride a camel for 10-15 minutes to see a spectacular acacia tree growing in the middle of the desert. Later, ride your motorbike back to Quad Runner Station on various quad trails to experience and enjoy even more of the beautiful desert vision. Finally, you will be returned to your hotel. During your unforgettable trip, you will receive 2 bottles of water for free.

What we wanted:
A quad bike tour through the desert to explore the desert, visit a real Bedouin village and see how the people really live. We didn't want that camel ride, but that was part of it.

What we booked versus what we got:
Contact in advance was great. We would be picked up in an air-conditioned van. That was an old van with the windows open, which is also fine, but don't offer that. We arrived and some from our van immediately went quad biking. We had to wait. After 20 minutes without any information, we were told that we were going to watch the sunset, but we had deliberately booked the afternoon tour. That boy was friendly and there is a different culture, but we just had to adapt. Welcome to Egypt he said. After waiting 30 minutes, when the other group returned, we were put on a quad bike with a helmet that did not fit at all. After that you would ride 25-30 km, but it is only a 5 km (30 min) trip. We rode in a train of 20 quads and often stopped along the way to keep everyone together, super annoying. Laughing every time for a photographer we don't want. The village is a made place for tourists with a few shacks. The tea was tasty. The "pharmacist" lets you try creams and oils that would be good for you, which are of course for sale. 1 woman was selling bracelets. We didn't talk to anyone about the culture of the Bedouins. We were not offered shisha. That camel riding is deeply sad! All tourists take turns on 4 animals, walk 10 meters, turn around, smile for a photo and back again. 5 minutes maximum. We do not participate in this. Which acacia tree? We didn't get the 2 free water bottles either. The toilet was for a fee in a dark hole without light, where there was barely any water from the tap to wash your hands. We would have to wait another 1.5 hours for sunset, but we asked if we could return earlier. Fortunately, that was possible, accompanied by 1 boy and then we could enjoy racing through the desert and make our own videos. That was cool and that was what we wanted. Back at the meeting point we were immediately driven to our accommodation. That was great. We ended up being gone for 3 hours, but for the other people it was much longer than 3 hours.

It was well done, and a much longer and more enjoyable experience than expected. We quad biked out, had tea, then a bit of bread, we then went on a camel for 5 mins. Afterwards had a very fun talk through the pharmacy. Then we climbed a hill to see the sunset. We then quad biked back to the base. However, my quad bike had no front light which was a bit scary on the ride back in the dark.
