Ticket sales not trustworthy. They sold me a tour to Chichén Itzá for me and my family at “Mexican national price” . Mind you it’s only ~$20 difference per ticket. However, at the site I was told to pay for a brand new ticket $600 pesos (foreigner entrance fee) for one of my family members. Highly inconvenient during a family vacation.
Makes me wonder - did Francisco sell me a ticket at discount rate to beat his competition and make a quick sale? For the staff to later tell me I HAVE to buy a new ticket (600 pesos) because one of our family members was not Mexican national. The ticket salesman knew this as they verify your nationality during booking process.
Basically they sale you a ticket at a discount, only tell you it’s invalid later at the site, and you’re stuck paying for a brand new ticket.
Don’t waste your time on scammers during vacation. Plenty of other options and reputable companies - don’t do business with Mayab Travel Tours.

I wanted to enjoy this tour. I was so excited to show my husband the amazing Mayan city. However, our bus was 20 mins late picking us up, with no communication and we were the first to be picked up. Next our tour leader (didn't get his name due to the rambling in Spanish) spoke so much, and so slowly, it seemed like our tour was in slow motion. Not only that, I thought I booked an English speaking tour, but he spoke in Spanish 75% of the time. So much so, that at one point I had to yell out, "I don't know what you're saying" and my husband started to tune him out all together, which caused him to miss pertinent information. The tour leader even told the bus that he didn't repeat information, so if we weren't listening, or if we were sleeping, oh well.

The most disappointing part was once we got to Chitzen Itza, we stood in one place over 20 minutes while he rambled on in Spanish and passed out pictures. I watched as other groups stopped, clapped at the entrance, and moved on over and over. He would just say, I'm almost finished. Some of my group, obviously antsy to move on, just started to walk away, myself included. When he finally moved from the corner, I could see there was rain coming. I watched as vendors frantically packed up their goods yet he continued his snails pace. At this point I walked away again towards the Warrior Temple, but it was too late. The heavens opened up and we had a downpour I'd never seen before, and we had to find cover where we could. My husband, frustrated said had he sped it up, he could have seen more, and we had to make the drenched walk back to the bus early. I understand the guide can't control the weather, but he should be able to read the room and see the group getting antsy, walking away, not understanding him, and the rain coming. I feel like we lost what little time we had there due to his arrogance.

The stop at Valladolid was pointless. We got off the bus for 20 min and he pointed out a church in case we wanted to take a picture of it.

The 2 stars are because of Marco our onboard waiter, the cenote swim and lunch. Marco was great! He was very helpful and attentive. The cenote, beautiful, and we loved having the opportunity to experience swimming in a cenote. Outside of that, I wouldn't suggest this tour with our tour leader (I dint know his name because he mumbled and rambled on incoherently). If it were a Spanish/ English tour (not what it said when i purchased) then he should have said everything evenly, not the vast amount of conversation in Spanish. The experience was extremely disappointing.

The staff was very nice and friendly. They had a great sense of humor throughout the entire trip. The cenote and Chichén Itzá were both beautiful places to explore. Food could have been better but not horrible for buffet style.

After 40 minutes of driving to Chichen Itza, they turned off the AC, claiming it was broken, and started offering an upgrade package for access to fresh drinks. We then stopped at a Mayab Village, which wasn't on the schedule, where they were selling overpriced items. Then miraculously the AC got fixed. They also tried to charge us an extra $20 dollars , claiming the package price had increased, even though we were already on the bus and already paid a deposit for the reservation only have to pay rest amount. Please avoid any tour with Mayab Travel. I highly recommend Ocean Tour—they are much more professional.

TERRIBLE SERVICE!! DON'T HIRE THEM!! They left us stranded on a street we didn't know at 10 at night without knowing the city.
They didn't drop us off where they picked us up and when we asked where the drop off from our hotel was they told us that they would let us know and they didn't say anything!!
The buses smell like urine!!
We didn't like the tour in general... it was 2 hours of just picking up people so we could leave from a place super close to the hotel, they bring you running and they don't take into account the processing times for things... like asking for the lifeguard, getting off the bus , give you the tickets…. They tell us to be on time and that they are going to leave at the agreed time and in the end they wait and lose 30 minutes. They left Chichen-Itzá at the end, which we considered to be the most important thing, and they are closing the park to us, literally they took us like cattle outside... the explanation was super fast and it was only the explanation of the main temple and the ball game... for the rest No time…

This tour was great! I took a day trip to Chichen Itzá, Valladolid, the Mayan town of Ebtún, and the X-cajum cenote from Puerto Adventuras. I started the day really early where we got in a small shuttle which picked up some people and brought us to Playa del Carmen where we were transferred on a coach bus which brought us to our first stop in Valladolid to see the lovely church. They gave us breakfast on the bus which consisted of a sandwich, a juice box, and some cookies. Be prepared for the time change since the province of Yucatán is an hour behind Quintana Roo. We didn’t get to Valladolid until 3 and a half hours after we left. We stayed there for 20 minutes, saw the church and then drove another 15 minutes to the small Mayan village of Ebtún where we got to meet a Mayan shaman we explained to us his culture and also spoke in his language which was a very cool experience. We also ate lunch there at a nice Mayan buffet with good traditional food. Next we drove another half hour to Chichen Itzá which was a nightmare to get into. We had to wait on a long line which was very chaotic. We had two hours at Chichen Itzá. 1 hour of a guided tour which the tour guide did a great job on, and 1 hour of free time to explore. I wish I could’ve had more free time, but the experience was great regardless. After another half hour, we made it to the Cenote X-cajum which was a great experience. Once you get there, you need to get life jackets and towels. The you walk down a lot of stairs to get the cenote. The water is very cold but you get used to it. There is a zip line into the water and a diving board. You also have the option of jumping from a platform way higher up. It was a great experience. In total, the guides were great, but I didn’t end up getting to the hotel until 9:45. I 100% recommend this tour.
