We went to Ronal's cooking class and market tour with a family of 6 adults Ages 21-51. We first got a market tour and explanation of how the market was arranged, some of the unique foods they sell, and Ronal purchased several different items to use in the cooking as well as tasting different Peruvian fruits. After the tour, went back to the studio where we had a sampling of Peruvian fruits and made our pisco sours (we recommend the passion fruit flavor over the traditional). We were then each given a choice of 2 different main courses (Lomo Saltado or Ceviche) which we began to prepare. Ronal did a great job juggling between the 2 groups making different dishes. We also made stuffed Peruvian chiles as an appetizer. All of the food was perfectly done, the ingredients were amazingly fresh, and everyone enjoyed themselves. Ronal then emailed us each a collection of Peruvian recipes to try at home as well as the recipe for the items we had cooked in the class. This class is for everyone!

We had a great experience with Ronal. We did market tour where he got some fresh fruits and cheese. After coming back to the class we tried fruits that were exotic for us. Then with Ronal guide we made Pisco sour, ceviche with his own recipe, and causa. Great gastronomical experience! Highly recommended!

Fabulous experience. Loved the market tour along with the cooking experience. We were there for five hours even though it was described as 3- extra time to enjoy and learn. We left full and happy! Highly recommend.

Fui con mi esposa y mis dos hijas, en junio de 2024. Tuvimos una experiencia realmente extraordinaria. Ronal nos dio un tour por el mercado De San Pedro, para no solo conocer los productos locales y sino también saber dónde ofrecen los mejores productos al mejor precio. También probamos las frutas y otros productos locales. La clase fue excepcional. Aprendimos a hacer causa limeña, cebiche y lomo saltado desde cero, con las excelentes orientaciones de Ronal. También aprendimos a hacer pisco y, para mis hijas, cocteles sin licor. Ronal realmente conoce de la cocina peruana y su historia y comparte su conocimiento con una generosidad sin límites. El equipamiento de cocina fue excelente. Las personas que apoyan a Ronal son maravillosas - con una amabilidad y orientación al servicio únicas. No tenemos ni una sola queja. ¡Esta es una experiencia imperdible!

Ronal’s cooking class was excellent. It started with a market tour during which he explained different fruits, cheeses, and other food items unique to the local cuisine. When we got back to his kitchen, we were able to try the fruits and cheeses. The dishes we cooked were light and delicious. I appreciated the way in which Ronal explained the purpose of each ingredient and step, drawing from his years as a professional chef.

That being said, as someone who has attended many cooking classes in different countries, it’s important to set your expectations right. There was only one appetizer choice (stuffed bell peppers) and two choices for the main dish (Lomo Saltado or ceviche, which is usually served as an appetizer). I consider this to be a limited selection. Additionally, we were not too involved in the actual “cooking,” with many steps completed exclusively by Ronal. I am not deducting a star for these — it’s just important to know what to expect.

Ronal was absolutely amazing, so passionate and knowledgable about all things food!! We had the most perfect day and we loved trying all of the Peruvian fruits and snacks that we hadn’t tried before followed by cooking three delicious meals. Thank you so much

My husband and I had a wonderful time preparing delicious food! Ronald, our instructor, was friendly, very knowledgable, and helped everyone in our class have a great time! We learned a lot about the tradition Peruvian foods, tried lots of delicious local fruits, and made two delicious meals. We left with full stomachs and great memories!

Ronal’s cooking class and market tour was fabulous, definitely a highlight of our trip! He was incredibly knowledgeable about ingredients, recipes, and cooking in general (you can definitely tell he’s a professional chef, he knows what he’s doing!) and was excited to share his knowledge and experience with us. The food and drinks were delicious, and we were able to help with everything and ultimately make our own dinner. It was a very small group, so it was perfect for getting to know each other and Ronal and his family. Overall an incredible experience and worth every penny!

The final food product from the Pisco Sour to the main dish was absolutely delicious! The market tour was very interesting, and the restaurant owner was from the area and knew a lot of inside information. I deducted one star because of the sanitation. When the owner was talking about all of the potatoes at the beginning, he had been using his cell phone and never washed his hand before touching our food; then he passed those same potatoes to all the tour participants, and then he put them directly in the pot for us to eat later without washing his hands or the potatoes - very unsanitary. Then during the cooking process, he and other participants were using their cell phones and then touching food that we were all going to eat without washing their hands after touching their cell phones - again VERY unsanitary. Many studies have found that a normal person's cell phone has more bacteria--and dangerous ecoli--than a public toilet. EVERYONE including the owner must wash hands directly before touching food and not allow ANYONE to touch food without washing their hands right before touching food. I had diarrhea within 24 hours and hadn't eaten anything differently than this meal, and I attribute it to not enforcing the washing of hands and using cell phones (like putting your hands in a public toilet) and then touching our food. If that had been enforced for everyone including the owner, it would definitely be a 5-star experience. Maybe this review will call it to the owner's attention to enforce in future workshops.
