Phenomenal tour every single moment. We drove the scenic side roads, had unique experiences like kayaking in the cove and walking beautiful iconic areas, and had outstanding accommodations. Every itinerary was crafted to experience the real Ireland. Our guide, Bri, was exceptional in her knowledge, and passion of Irish culture/ history. This is the trip to Ireland to take.

My husband and I chose this tour to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and it was the best vacation ever. Our tour-mates connected quickly, and we often felt like family as we experienced Ireland's natural beauty and small towns during the day. In the evening, listening to live music and singing along strengthened our connections. From our tour guide Seamus we learned so much about Ireland's history, its people, and traditions. Seamus had a great sense of humor and made sure all our needs were met and questions answered. With the luck of the Irish, we had beautiful weather to enjoy the Emerald Isle. Can't recommend this 10-day Ultimate Small Group Tour enough!

5+++. One of the best trips we have ever taken. Our guide, Seamus, was awesome.
We saw so much but were never rushed. Great sights, great accommodations, great food, great everything. I would HIGHLY recommend this tour to anyone that wants an in-depth introduction to Ireland and all it has to offer.

This was my first small group tour and my first visit to Ireland. I really wanted to see both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and this tour delivered. I mainly chose to do a tour because I didn't want to drive by myself in Ireland. It was a great choice. Our tour guide, Seamus, was outstanding. He was both a careful driver and an entertaining and knowledgeable speaker. The tour covered 1,147 miles. It took in both the main sites, such as Blarney Castle. the Ring of Kerry , the Cliffs of Moher, and Giants Causeway. But we also got off the beaten path, visiting a chocolate factory, a small distillery and a horseshoe drive in the mountains. Seamus did an excellent job of arranging group dinners if we wanted them, but also allowing people to have some time to themselves if they wanted. The accommodations, including one night in a castle, were always good with delicious breakfasts included. The additional walking tours in Derry and Kinsale were very engaging and the tasting tour of Galway was yummy. The tour is packed with activities, so be prepared for that. I would say if you're looking for something very relaxing, to choose a different tour. As a solo traveler, I always felt safe and watched over by both Seamus and the other travelers and I always felt included by the group. I highly recommend Overland.

We were on the Jewel 10 day Ultimate Ireland tour which began June 30, 2024. We had booked the tour at the end of March. Our guide was very good and we saw all the sights. Unfortunately, I must rate this trip as poor, with the blame falling on Overland Ireland administration.

On a bus tour, you will spend 30% of your time in the hotel rooms selected by the tour operator, which is the reason for the poor rating. We have traveled in Europe previously and were concerned about the size of the rooms and the air conditioning capabilities. Even though Ireland does not get as warm as continental Europe, buildings can be too warm with little ventilation. Before we booked the tour we contacted Overland to ask about the accommodations and were assured that they were very nice, but did not supply the names of the hotels.

When booking, we were presented with an option for upgraded accommodations for €300 per person which I happily selected. If you look at the itinerary, the route is clockwise around the island. About 1 week before departure we were notified that we would be traveling counterclockwise instead. We did not receive upgraded accommodations on this tour, although another passenger traveling alone did get all updated accommodations. In Dingle, the other travelers were booked at a luxury hotel and received a full hot breakfast of their choosing. They booked us in a tiny hotel (Murphy’s) that had only cereal for breakfast. This is unacceptable and we should have been compensated for this downgrade. The majority of the hotels were very small with inadequate ventilation. Overland claims to have no record of the upgrade request but I definitely selected it so I think they are just dishonest and/or incompetent. Upon our return from vacation, we asked them to see an itemized bill for the trip that they never provided. We do not know whether we were charged for an upgrade. Any reasonable travel company will provide an itemized bill before one travels so that the customer knows exactly what they are paying for.

The vehicle is a 16 passenger Sprinter van, and you will be spending 15% of your trip inside of the van. Our trip had only 6 passengers which was very nice as we could spread out. I would not like to imagine that van with 14-16 passengers. I can only assume the reason for the low passenger count and reversal of direction is that we were part of an overflow tour and they had trouble booking accommodations. The fact that we had booked months in advance made no difference. The one passenger who did receive upgrades booked her tour 1.5 weeks before leaving.

In summary, I would never consider Overland Ireland again due the inadequacy of the accommodations. There are many good guides in Ireland. Find a competent company that uses better hotels.

The tour was lovely. Lots of different activities and options along with leaving some time for people to enjoy themselves. I had Mark as a tour guide and highly recommend him. He went above and beyond to make sure everyone had an enjoyable experience.

This 10 day tour of Ireland with Seamus as our guide was absolutely fantastic. We visited small villages and large towns; were blown away by the natural beauty of the whole Emerald Isle and particularly places like the Cliffs of Mohr and the Giant’s Causeway; learned about the fascinating and resonant history of Ireland through visits to picturesque ruins and restored castles, as well as through walking tours with knowledgable locals. The accommodation and breakfasts were great (I paid the single supplement and always had a large room with at least a double bed) - and on one night there was a special luxurious treat.
Our guide Seamus was brilliant - a consummate professional - thoughtful, generous, knowledgable and funny, he skilfully and graciously kept the group informed and the show on the road. He was a great driver too - it felt very safe and comfortable on the 16 seat bus. I thoroughly recommend both the tour and Seamus as a guide.

We saw it all - castles, gardens, cliffs, wild coastline, single track roads, lots of sheep and cows, and historic towns. From the climb to Cashel Rock to the tour of NewGrange, explanations and preparations were well planned and executed. Seamus was our amazing driver and tour guide. As we followed the itinerary, he regaled us with humorous stories and Irish history while answering innumerable questions. Highly recommend this 10 day tour.

My family and I did the 10-day Ultimate tour with Mark ending last week. It was a full 10 days of experiencing Ireland! Seeing so many beautiful sites, driving so many miles, making so many memories! Mark was an excellent tour guide and driver…kind, fun, attentive, thoughtful…always thinking steps ahead to make sure that we transitioned from one activity to the next without any hiccups. Even when he had a concern from home on his heart, it never distracted him from his care of our group. The most difficult part of this review is choosing which photos to share. Ireland is a beautiful country and this tour gave us a great sample of all that Ireland has to offer. If we never make it back, I’m grateful that we were able to do and see so much. If we do make it back, then now we know where/what we would like to spend more time on. Thank you, Mark, and thank you, Overland!

We had a fantastic time on our trip throughout Ireland. The schedule was varied and flexible with ample amounts of Irish culture, natural beauty, and history. Our tour guide Mark was extremely knowledgeable and thoughtful and added tremendously to our experience. I would definitely do this all over again.
