Enjoy this adventure that will take you off-the-beaten-track to both the remote Beng Mealea Temple ("Jungle Temple") as well as the village of Kompong Khleang. Beng Mealea is a less-visited, but nonetheless historically important, and represents a fascinating example of the Suryavarman architecture, dating back to the 12th century. As this temple is much further away from Siem Reap very few visitors venture out here, our guide for this unique tour, was born in a village very close to here and as a younger person played here after school and on weekends,so certainly knows the complex very well, there are many hidden places to visit and explore,we will also make many stops along the way, also see how they make bricks, local kilns, rural life and local markets, entering the stilted villages of Kompong Khleang and also we travel up the river and onto the Great Tonle Sap lake, stopping a a local floating villages and lunch and drinks at a local eatery, all in all an awesome insightful day awaits

This tour was very interesting, with the guide being flexible with the schedule and stopping at several locations not included in the itinerary. Unfortunately the water level in the lake and river was low but we still saw the fishing village on stilts and the floating village on the lake. The lunchtime meal was at a local tourist restaurant and was OK. Beng Mea Lea Temple was very different to Angkor Wat in that it is largely in ruins with little reconstruction having been done. There were some steps to negotiate when walking through the temple but it was a much easier walk than the Angkor Wat/Angkor Thom tour.

This was actually my favorite temple that I visited. I liked that it was surrounded by tree and it feel like you were in the jungle. I visited this temple as a day trip which included visiting a few villages and a boat ride out to some floating houses. My guide was excellent.
