I highlycrecommend going on the walking tour qt 2000 meters rather than opting to go to the higher altitude of 3000 meters with the cable car, etc. Etna is better appreciated at that level. Magnificent views. Tommaso is a geologist and opened up the landscape for our appreciation. You will certainly enjoy the lava caves and the Alcantara river will be the perfect way to end a very full day.

The guide was knowledgeable but we couldn’t visit the cave as there was a difficult drop to get down to it . This wasn’t mentioned in the itinerary. We also found the extra prices at the top to be very expensive. Also not suitable for people less able. This should be stated somewhere in the details. The guide did take us over to the lower craters though and gave a good explanation. Then there are many steps down to the gorge. Again not mentioned but there was a lift but it was 9 euros return to do it. Profiteering from disabled people I feel. Then when we got back to our hotel we found the same trip for nearly half the price. That surprised us very much. However the wine and liquor tasting was very enjoyable and when I managed to get down to the gorge it was beautiful and the water lovely and cool to wander in

Pick up on time and an enjoyable ride up to Etna. Our guide, Valentina, was very accommodating and knowledgeable, and ensured to answer all of our questions, as well as let us wonder in silence, enjoying the nature and views.
The cave was smaller than expected but we were informed that the location rotates depending on safety and the largest of caves was now closed to public.
Walk around Etna lower parts was good, but if you're expecting to go all the way to the top, this is at an extra cost and you should allow extra 30mins travel time, therefore less time enjoying the views.
The tasting experience was quick but yum, with the possibility to buy local products afterwards; note: not all containers are under 100ml so plan ahead with your luggage ;)
Alcantara river - WOW! Freezing cold water surrounded by volcanic rock walls - breathtaking! Here Valentina waited for us to walk up to the small waterfall before allowing us an hour of free time (and to dry! - take your swimsuits). Great day!

Francesco our guide was really good and very knowledgeable telling us all sorts of info and history on the journey. The trip up Etna was expensive but worth going, we chose the cable car and bus option. It was nice to have the food tasting and the trip to the gorge afterwards. Take beach shoes, swimsuit and a towel if you want to go in the river. It came up to the tops of our legs in places. Very enjoyable day out

This was a great trip, well organised and guided by Daria. We possibly could have skipped the Alacantra Gorge but it worked really well as a bookend to the Mt Etna part of the trip. I did the quad bike tour option which was fun, but the local crater walk with our guide was enjoyed by my partner. A highlight was the sampling of local produce as part of the tour, boy the Sicilians sure know how to make great food! Check out the pistachio butter!! Yes you could go to Mt Etna under your own steam, but this tour covers all the bases and allows enough time for optional side tours if you crave that. Super well done to Mt Etna Tribe and Daria - a really enjoyable day.

What an absolutely fantastic day with our guide "Peppe" (Giuseppe Barbagallo). A big personality and super character. Peppe picked us up and filled our day with info about life and culture in Sicily. Mt Etna was fantastic although the cable car was not working so we had to queue quite awhile to get buses up to the top. Although this long delay happened made sure that we still had the full day experience. The geology of the mountain and the Alcantara river was spectacular. Best part of the day for us was the visit to the winery. Superb wine, food and Pistachio liquor (sort of Pistachio Baileys). Great day thanks to Peppe!

I find it really hard to believe all the positive reviews for this tour as my 25 year old daughter and I did not enjoy it at all and thought it was an absolute rip off. The tour guide was friendly but extremely loud and as we were the only non German speaking guests, it was not enjoyable listening to him bellowing in a language we could not understand for majority of the car journey. I actually questioned if we had been placed in the wrong tour as the guide asked me if I was German when we met him at the pick up point. On the way to Etna, we stopped on the side of the road to look at a cave the was about 3x5 metres in size which is where you wear your helmet. I think I was expecting something a little more grand than a hole in the ground on the side of the road.
We arrived at Etna, and we opted to do the 4W motorbike tour which was actually great fun but cost an extra 100 euro ( note that to go any higher up the volcano past where the buses and cars stop is an added cost) . When we returned from 4W'ing we all got back in the bus and drove to a little business to sample honey on stale bits of bread and biscotti, then on to Alacantra gorge ( not sure what happened to wine tasting as we certainly didn't do any) . We got to the gorge at about 3 30pm and our guide Enzo pointed to stairs and told us to be back on the bus by 5pm. That was it! No other explanation or information. Save yourself the money and do something else. We weren't even provided with a bottle of water.
