We saw all the major highlights of Rome and the Vatican.
Massimiliano went into depth on each area explaining the history of Rome. He told us lots of wonderful stories of love war, victory and betrayal. It was a great day. Massimiliano was punctual, polite, respectful, knowledgeable and kind. He also has a voice which was easy to listen to.

If you are short for time and want to see the main attractions of Rome in a day, this is the Tour for you! Our Guide Francesco was amazing. He explained everything in detail and went through the history of all that there is to know about Rome. He even had diagrams and books to show the old verses the current buildings and what they look like especially the ruins. He was on time, polite and considerate of me taking my Instagram shots (lol) and even treated us to some desserts! Although it was very hot and this is a walking tour still worth every penny and a wonderful way to see the main sights of Italy. Make sure you have some comfortable shoes on! Everything is so jaw droppingly amazing!

Excellent tour! Thomas was a superb guide: personable and VERY knowledgable. We visited many highlights of Rome:

Coliseum
Roman Forum
Pantheon
Trevi Fountain
Arch of Constantine
Vatican City (including St Peter’s Basilica, Sistine Chapel, Vatican Museum)
Church of St Apostles
Piazza Navona

And we learned SO much. Thomas planned a nice spot for lunch (and mid-tour rest). Highly recommend. Both of our college-aged children loved the tour. Definitely worth the experience and extra attention to book a private tour.

[Scam group]

Tickets can be purchased online, but I tried to buy one on the day using the QR code, but the tickets were sold out. Just as I was getting discouraged thinking I couldn't buy one, I found two booths selling tickets on the day. However, there was a long line... I thought it would take more than an hour, but I decided to line up. Then, a person who spoke to me said, "Do you understand English?" and "You can enter in 15 minutes without waiting for more than two hours!" I asked him, "How much is it per person?" He said it was 20 euros, and since the actual ticket price was 16 euros, I agreed because I could enter early and felt like I was getting a good deal. Then, I was taken near an ATM and told, "It's cash only, so if you don't have cash, please withdraw it and pay." I paid as instructed, and was given an audio microphone, and I was told to go with the guide. A group of about 30 people followed the guide while listening to his voice, and we lined up at a ticket booth, and we continued to line up for an hour while listening to the guide. I wondered why I was standing in this line, but since I had paid 20 euros before, I assumed that I would be entering through the group entrance.

After a while, as I approached the window, I saw the same group of people paying again, so I asked the guide for an explanation. He replied, "Buy your entrance ticket here!" When I told him, "No, I've already paid, so there's no need for that!", he suddenly became furious and yelled, "Everyone else is here with their consent, don't you understand English?" and, "Decide whether you want to buy it or not! You're bothering everyone else!" Anyway, I decided to buy the ticket and asked for a refund of the 20 euros I had paid. He insisted, "I'm the guide, and I'll tell the person who paid the money to get a refund! I don't know!" I asked him to contact the woman and tell her that I wanted her to come here, but he was speaking Italian, and even when I asked him to speak to me in English, he didn't help. Afterwards, for some reason, a man I'd never seen before appeared and asked me, "Who did you pay and how much?" When I explained, he said he would return the amount in cash on the spot and I should just pay it. Maybe he was afraid that the police would be called?! In the end, it took more than an hour to buy the ticket, but I was able to enter the Colosseum safely.

It's best not to listen to or respond to people you don't know.

The people who approached me, collected my cash, the fake guide, and the refund man were all different people.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. He as a college degree in history and a graduate degree. He was able to provide us with very detailed information about the Coloseum, the Pantheon and the the Vatican. I knew that the buildings in Rome were old but did not realize how much older they are than similar cities such as Paris. Francesca provided us with valuable and entertaining information about buildings built about two thousand years ago. He also pointed out paintings and sculptures done by Michelangelo during the Rennaissance and other buildings built during the Baroque period. He touched up on how governments today are modeled after those in Rome during the time when it was a Republic. I really enjoyed the private tour.

Donato is an incredible guide - knowledgeable, warm, animated, passionate. He is a historian and archeologist. Knows Rome so well. Telling the story of Rome with passion is a talent and he has it in spades. His explanations of the Forum, Colosseum, Vatican, especially the Sistine Chapel were extraordinary. Love to take another tour with him. So much to see and learn!

You cannot go wrong by booking this tour! If the “skip the lines” feature weren’t enough of a selling point, the knowledgeable Roman guide is. Tommaso has his PhD in archeology and was well versed in church history as portrayed by the Roman historical ruins and monuments. Adapting his tour to meet our specific cultural background, we learned so much about Roman history and were left hungry for more. His tour ensured that we would return to Rome at a later date. Wear comfortable shoes! We clocked 27,300 steps this day, all worth it. And be sure to be hungry for lunch because you will eat your best meal here with Roman friends. Amazing, amazing, amazing!
