Chichen itza was amazing, but 2 hours isn’t enough, when it includes the time from and back to the bus and the guided walk. We only saw half the site. To much time was used on commercial stuff e.g. at the place where we were supposed to eat lunch. Overall the tour included to much commercial stuff. We were constantly asked to buy things an we really just wanted to explore things instead, therefore it was a bit unsatisfying not to have enough especially at Chichen Itza but also in Valladolid. We were in a run and hurry at both places

While the actual
Chichen Itzá part was great. The 5 hours of what was before with the constant selling cheapened the entire experience. The food was awful too so bring snacks.

Having done awesome Viator experiences in the past, this one came as a disappointment. Memorable bad or average was the 20 min late pick up, 1 hour we spent waiting around for lunch while they tried to sell us stuff (this hour and 20 could have been spent exploring Valladolid) and the highly average lunch (tacos, rice, beans and spaghetti that looked like it had been sitting around for awhile). Plus 30 mins in Valladolid is not nearly long enough to do more than order a coffee. On top of it, the tour guide took our USD for taxes and ‘owed us back’ but didn’t pay (just requesting this back at the moment). Memorable good was Chichen Itza and Cenote Samaal! Would definitely recommend to go but maybe not on this tour. Find a better lunch that you don’t need to wait around for. Find a longer time period for Valladolid. And would recommend wandering Chichen Itza yourself once the guide shows you the clapping echo point. There’s so much to see (find the map and head off past the main temple) - he spent 1 hour on one side of El Castillo.

Positives about the tour: The tour guide was very informative and gave the tour in Spanish and English. The idea of visiting Chichen Itza, Valldolid, and Cenote Samaal is very appealing. But, this tour has room for improvement. Drawbacks: We did not find out until a couple of days before what time to meet the tour. It was listed as 8am on the website but ended up being at 9:50am. I asked by email what time it would end and we would return but never got an answer. I had to ask the tour guide, and he gave an estimate of 12 hours later. We had to cancel dinner reservations because of that. Every place we stopped was full of tour buses like ours, so the places were overcrowded and full of lines. We only had 40 minutes at Valladolid, which we stopped at 6:30 on our return. We ordered food at a stand in a food court--the line was not yet long--and got the food 5 minutes before we were supposed to be back at the bus. There was no time to walk around the market square or go to the church or other things they told us about. Apparently we had to leave so other tour buses could enter the city. At Chichen Itza we did not have enough time to walk to some of the more distant sites on the property. We only had one hour at the cenote, and the lines were so long that we did not think we had enough time to change, wait in line to swim, change, and get back on the bus. I'm not sure any other company offering tours would have been better because every tour bus--and there were many-- seemed to have the same schedule.

The actual tour was ok (not great) and was on time, however, the driver got impatient when it was time to drop us at our hotel. He intended to drop us at an unsafe location and literally asked us to break the law by jaywalking. He disrespectfully opened the passenger door and asked us to get off or otherwise! We stood our ground and insisted we must be dropped exactly where we were picked up when the tour started. It’s sad that he only obliged after he rang his boss or whoever he rang.

Our guide Victor said he has been guiding tours for over 30 years. He is very knowledgeable about the Mayan culture and language. He tried to teach up basic phrases, such as "hello" and "how are you?" He explained the numeric system. The weather was over 110 degrees with humidity almost that high! He kindly guided us from shade tree to shade tree as he showed us the ruins, and he supplemented his talk with photographs. He and his guide for the Spanish speakers, Miguel, made the long bus-ride home a party. It was a long day, 13 hours, but they made it educational and fun.

Great tour. Only 15 people allowed so it's personal. Swam in a cenote , ate authentic food , visited the ruins. The guide was Mayan so we got the real story. We also avoided all crowds!!
