The "discover scuba diving" program includes a short 20 minute video followed by a brief orientation from our instructor on dive procedures, underwater communication and dive skills before conducting 2 open water dives to maximum 40 feet. You will start the first dive in very shallow water on a sandy bottom getting used to being underwater and practicing a few skills. Once you complete the skills and feel comfortable you will continue with the instructor to explore the dive site and see the marine life around. On the second dive we don't do skills and just enjoy the underwater world.

Max and the entire crew from East Cape explorers made our experience scuba diving a memory we won’t forget. We did the intro to scuba course and max made sure we were well informed and comfortable before we did our dive. 100% recommend this company for you dives, whether it’s your first or 100th dive. Cappy the boat dog was the cherry on top of a great diving trip. Can’t thank them enough for such a great time. Will be back again.

Tom was great. Responded quickly to emails and calls. There was a little confusion with booking the PULMO portion. But Tom fixed it and everything was perfect. Rich was our guide. Everyone was so professional, informative, patient. Great group!! Dive was wonderful!!

East Cape Explorers was the perfect place for me to get padi certified. Max was such a calming presence for me in the water. I feel very grateful to have been guided by him and east cape explorers during my certification. They were very professional and organized. Thank you!

I did my PADI Certification at this dive shop with Alejandro. It was an amazing experience.
The training was both professional and fun. Alejandro is a calm and patient instructor, and I felt safe throughout the experience. Best of all, we saw some amazing wildlife including beautiful schools of fish, snapper, lobster and many others. We also saw a whale and hammerhead shark from the boat.
These guys are great, I'd highly recommend them.

5-star recommended! This is a great place for new and experienced divers. From the moment we contacted them, there was consistent communication. Tom answered all our questions and we felt very prepared for our day of scuba diving. Both dive masters were pleasant and knowledgeable. If you’re looking to support a smaller dive operation that truly gives personal attention, East Cape Explorers is a fantastic choice.

We had a great time doing a Discover Scuba outing last week. The staff was great -- kind, supportive, fun, super-qualified. Everything felt safe and well-run. I've been on a number of Discover Dives in the world (introducing my friends or family to the world of scuba), and this operation is above par.

I booked a few tours through east cape, this was the first! I did the into to scuba and wth was absolutely amazing. He progressed the diving to my comfort level and always checked in with me to make sure I was okay. We saw tons of wildlife; sand ray, stingy ray, trumpet fish, ship wrecks, etc. All the staff was incredibly nice and Stu was very accommodating to my shifting vacation plans. The tour itself was an intimate number, unlike some other tours I’ve been on. 100% recommend!

This was a great experience. I had a group of uncertified divers who wanted to give it a try. Though I am certified, I participated in the discovery scuba with the rest of my group. East cape was great to work with me as we got everything set up and the two dives were a lot of fun. We all felt safe and enjoyed the experience.

The East Cape Explorers staff were friendly and very informative. They provided as much information as possible to ensure a good dive, which was impressive for a crash course. Sandra is an intelligent and patient guide, and I felt grateful for her reassurance. We were lucky to be part of a nice group.
I became unexpectedly nauseous and therefore unable to dive, which is no one’s fault. The weight and tightness of scuba gear on a rocking boat just happened to be too much for me. Even when I tried to wade in the water and look into the horizon, nothing worked. I believe the guides when they said diving would banish the nausea, but the problem was that I couldn’t even wear the gear in order to dive without becoming ill. I’ve been boating my whole life and never experienced seasickness, so I instinctively knew the gear was a big reason. Anyway, I appreciated their attempts to help (Sandra was so nice about it). If this is your first dive, definitely bring Dramamine just in case. Even if you have never experienced seasickness (like me), you never know. Otherwise you will be stuck feeling this way for two hours. Since there are other paying customers in the boat, they cannot bring you back to land.
Unfortunately the reason for this rating is for the East Cape Explorer’s lack of response. Since my husband took care of me, neither of us went scuba diving. They agreed to let him come back another day, which I really appreciated. We would lose money for me since I couldn’t do it (it is what it is), but I was glad they promised him that he would at least dive. His sunburn from the experience worsened though, so he contacted the company to reschedule.
From this point on, it was complete radio silence. They had been very responsive prior. He emailed and called countless times. There was no answering machine, either.
Honestly, it’s not the fact that they denied him the opportunity to reschedule again that was the concern, since it was his choice to not dive the first time to take care of me.
It’s the fact that they completely ghosted him. I would so much rather they answered back to say they couldn’t accommodate his request than disappearing into thin air.
It also feels weird for a company to do?
East Cape Explorers also never sent the photos that are part of the package. Granted, they were all taken on the boat instead of underwater, but…we still paid for it.
All in all, the guides were nice and competent, but it seems like if there’s any detraction from the original plan, compromises and potential solutions with customers are handled in an unprofessional manner.

I went on the discover suba dive and it was a great experience. The guides were great, the diving amazing and as a bonus we even sighted 3 whales on the boat drive back from the diving to the port.
