The villa is absolutely worthy to visit. However, the tour guy did not add much value to the trip and the whole tour was not very well organized.

Guide was relatively knowledgeable, though very causal. Bus trip was about 45 min and was fine. Hadrian's Villa was the first stop. We bypassed the ticket kiosk and the orientation maps, which would have been helpful. I picked one up at the end. The Villa is expansive and we walked all around. All of the important sites - the Maritime Theater and the Canopus were spectacular. The ancient ruins reminded me of our tours at Mesa Verde in southern Colorado. Second stop was lunch in Tivoli. The restaurant was a local place. Food was fine and there was plenty of it. We filled up on the first course before the pasta came. Good thing we had walked a lot! The third stop was the Villa D'Este. The villa itself is a wonderful example of the architecture of the time. The real star is the gardens. We spent plenty of time there and could have happily stayed longer. Ride back to Rome was uneventful. Arrived a little later than anticipated, but worth the time.

Giuseppe was WONDERFUL! He was so kind and funny, and gave great insight into the lives of the historical figures whose shoes we were walking in. I had been to Hadrian’s Villa and really appreciated a refresher on the emperor’s home away from Rome. Seeing Villa d’Este was stunning, and lunch at the Trattoria di Gabriella in Tivoli was so fun and delicious. I wouldn’t do this trip on a rainy day - it’s a long day with LOTS of walking and up/down. I would not recommend for people with any mobility limitations, it wouldn’t be worth it. Wear comfy shoes and be ready for weather. A truly wonderful way to spend a day outside of Rome.

It was great to spend a day outside of Rome. Both Hadrian’s villa and villa d’este were fun to visit. Glad we had a guide to explain the history of the locations. We really enjoyed the lunch as well.

Nice break from the city. Was about a 40 minute ride. When to two sites with lunch in between. The Villa d’este was our favorite and a great way to end the tour. Walk the entire garden or you’ll miss so much beauty. Waterfalls, beautiful trees, etc. Lunch was very good, family style and plenty to go around.

Wear good shoes, lots of walking and steps. Some of the older or out of shape people had a hard time keeping up in a few spots.

To me, this is one of the hidden secrets of a trip to Rome. The ruins of Hadrian’s villa are spectacular and parts of it are extremely well preserved. The Villa d’Este is nothing short of beautiful. The gardens are spectacular and the views are wonderful. All in all this is in my estimation a must see on any vacation to Rome.

It was a great visit to both of the Villas in Tivoli. The sites guide was knowledgeable and cheerful. The bus trip was ok, the driver seemed to drive in a safe and skilled manner.
Our lead chaperone was inexperienced and will no doubt grow in the role.

Ok. Going to these places was AMAZING. But I would say you should just go by yourself or pick another tour. I usually do not write bad reviews but this tour was not the best for the price they ask. The lunch they gave us at a restaurant was the worst Italian food me or my family has ever had and had no flavor. Also, the tour guide (no rude intentions) was hard to hear as his English was not the best. Again— I am not trying to dismiss this tour. Just try to find a better experience for your money

Slightly shambolic start -seemed surprised there were 25 in the group and had to get a couple of taxis. Then delay at Hadrian’s villa as unable to buy tickets as internet connection down and not enough cash. Villa was very good. Lunch took forever to be served- don’t think they expected 25 either. To make the time up galloped through the villa d’este -missed most of the frescoes- and some time in the garden but none on our own to wander like advertised. Group thought guide fine - I couldn’t follow him. Could be done on public transport-there were buses between hadrians villa and tivoli

Fabulous, history-filled tour!!! Maria Teresa was and incredible guide and is a Tivoli local with ancestors going back several generations and a qualified historian and archaeologist (such a bonus)…. And it was obvious how passionate she is about making sure everyone understood the importance and significance of what we are seeing…. Can’t say enough - and this was my second time taking the tour!!!!
