Fascinating place to visit for an insight into the post-war communist period in Hungary and also to appreciate that art can be put to bad purposes as well as good.

The guide book is brilliant in itself and a very interesting read.

But also a huge shout out of appreciation for the lady in the ticket office - apologies I didn’t get your name - I left our rucksack on the Arivabus 101E, only noticing after photographs in the Trabant. She contacted the bus company immediately, who managed to contact the driver. One of the Memento Park staff accompanied us back to the bus stop where the driver had retrieved our bag and with a smile and a handshake passed it back to us. The day was saved. Thank you again!

There's no hiding from the fact that this is literally just a graveyard for statues from the Communist era of Budapest's history but that's not to say it isn't worth a visit.

If you are interested in history or how Communism manifested itself in those days then it's well worth a visit.

It is relatively quick and easy to reach Momento Park from the city centre.

A word to the wise, this "attraction" is a little controversial for locals. We did a great free walking tour the previous day and the guide opened the tour by telling the group NOT to visit Memento Park. He was of the view that the statues represent the past and that Hungary has moved on. Whilst this may well be the case I would urge you to make your own decision. For us the visit proved to be insightful and interesting and I'm glad that we made the effort to visit.

Brilliant spectacular sculpture park with ironic story of monuments, politics gone wrong but eventually right, fantastic display and film, gave great understanding to the peaks and troughs (mostly troughs) of revolution, socialism and eventual freedom. Something for all the family including the ubiquitous trbant to sit in

This was a project since beginning the 90's to allocate the works. Of course never happened. No bigger than a football field. You can see more communism depictions in Wall Street. It's been now renovated.

We used the public transport as described in other reviews and all worked out.
A worthwhile trip and for us was better than going to the museum inside.
We would recommend doing this.

It is a highly recommended park, it has more than forty giant statues and a small store.
It's worth going.

Today was all about 21st century history at Memento Park! This is a brilliantly done, private museum where so much thought went into every part of this park. Fascism, Dictators, and Propaganda are real and we need to guard our freedom and democracies vigilantly... And I loved my teacher/guide, she was amazing and so passionate about the history of the Communist years between 1947 and 1990. How the messages were manipulated, and images and art was created. The subtle differences between life before during and after living behind the Iron Curtain. And of course the not so subtle oppression in all walks of life. Made sure to save time to watch the KGB training films too! The park is lovely to have a drink or bring a picnic. While the statues alone are messages without words, you really must do the tour with a guide to get the most out of it! Booking an English tour online was easy and the best way to get the most out of your time here! I strongly recommend this private outdoor museum and it's guides!

Had an absolutely wonderful time touring Memento Park. This park is a must-see for anyone interested in Hungarian history. Judit is an exceptional tour guide, very knowledgeable, and fluent in English. It’s so important these statues have been saved and preserved; the history is so vital for the younger Hungarian generation and tourists alike. You won’t find a better tour guide in Budapest than Judit. She is passionate about teaching this very important subject, and a very nice person as well.

This is a brilliant place to go, for people interested in history, or for people who just like GIANT statues. The English language guide book is essential, to get the most out of the overall concept of the Park, and a snip at 1,500 forints. It is thought-provoking but also very beautiful, in a sombre sort of way. The photographic exhibition and film were also really interesting. It is a bit of a distance from Budapest, but I thoroughly recommend it.
