Kamakura is a delightful, historical city with Buddhist temples and Shinto shrines. It takes less than one hour from Tokyo.
In addition, Kamakura is known for its magnificent cherry blossoms. The beautiful cherry blossoms take over the whole city around April every year.

Meeting with my tour guide at the beginning of the tour and his manner in which he outlined the history of Japan and what we would be seeing was very helpful. The graciousness in which he conducted the tour simply added to my experience and hopes for the day

Absolutely POS. I am angry with this tour guide Viator assigned and also nothing was included for the price we paid. This guide came to our hotel to pick us up to take train to Kamakura. He was unorganized and wasted us time to meet up, no sign no badge.
The money we paid did not include anything. We even had to pay for the guide's transportation, lunch and gratuity. He even suggested to go to an expensive restaurant for lunch, glad that we refused.
We thought this was all inclusive! Why do I have to pay for public transportation??
The entire trip I was pissed but had to suck it all up. I will not hire Viator ever again.

I've paid for this tour in advance, but we have to pay for our transportation fm Toyko to kamakura and back and all the admission fees.
On top of it, we have to pay for the tour guide's lunch which is so terrible!
What kind of tour is this?? So disappointed with Viator!
On top of this, we paid over US$220 for this tour, what for??
Just for the tour guide's company??

Kamakura is beautiful. This was definitely one of the highlights during my time in Tokyo. Highly recommended. Special thanks to my guide, Anji, for her wonderful work.

Read the fine print. We were not picked up by a driver as thought but a kind man on foot. We were then required to pay all his bus/train tickets and his meals which we were not prepared for at all. It left us scrambling to find an ATM machine for cash.
The guide was knowledgeable but we seemed to be rushing through temples instead of enjoying them.
By this time on our vacation, we were comfortable with the cities transportation and therefore could have saved ourselves the 400 approximate dollars it cost us.

The location and history of the Kamakura was awesome. I was disappointed that this was not a private car trip. We traveled by train and it was very busy. The tour guide was knowledgeable, however then the history of Hiroshima was brought up by the tour guide and we received a skewed history ( opinion based) on the history of how Hiroshima occurred and the word “propaganda”was used. It was insulting as if we had no idea on the correct history. I do not recommend this tour guide who appears to hold deep seeded resentment towards Americans.
