Thoroughly enjoyed our trip! Kev was an excellent tour guide! So pleased we were able to visit with a weaver on Lewis. We really appreciated all the information Kev narrated along the way about the history of the area and of the places we visited. Kev's easy going nature kept the trip relaxing. We enjoyed the Dunroamin B&B accommodations immensely as well. Our host, Donnie, was a hoot ( and an excellent breakfast chef!) I will happily recommend Rabbies!

The trip to Lewis and Harris was wonderful. Helen showed us many wonderful places and always pointed out things worth seeing and told us interesting facts along the way.
Helen was very flexible and adapted our stays to the weather and the "tourist rush".
We would definitely do the trip with Helen again and can only recommend it to others.

We will never forget this wonderful trip through Lewis, Harris, and the Outer Hebrides. Our little group visited fascinating historical sites, stunning landscapes and gorgeous beaches, learning about Scottish history along the way. Everything about Rabbie’s was friendly, organized, and well-planned. Helen was an expert guide who made long drives feel short with her stories and local song choices, and we felt like we were leaving behind a friend after the three days were over. My son was the only kid on the trip, and Helen was great with him. We highly recommend this experience and hope to take a trip with Rabbie’s and Helen again someday.

As usual this Rabbie's tour was well organised allowing me to see all the main sites of Lewis and Harris in 3 days. Helen, our guide, was informative and entertaining and made light work of driving on some tricky roads. Rabbies also arranged the overnight accomodation in a comfortable bed and breakfast. I would always recommend this company for small group tours of Scotland.

I did this tour in late October 2020, I had been on a few with the tour operator, but this was the furthest I had traveled in my country. I stayed overnight in Inverness and was picked up in the morning at the bus stance area. The people joined varied from tourists and locals, once on the bus it was a meet and greet, followed by a quick outlook of what the plan was for day one. The bus left and over the Kessock Bridge, we went!

The first stop was to glorious waterfalls in a secluded forest, by this time it was Autumn, and the trees were bold with color. After the 15 min stop, the bus proceeded to Ullapool to catch the ferry to the Outer Hebrides. Continuing to Ullapool, the views of the loch go for miles and the shops have everything you need for your onward adventure. The ferry departed and it took a couple of hours to get to the Isles, there is lots the boat to keep you entertained.

The ferry had reached Stornoway and the weather was great, it took half an hour before everyone got to the bus and once out we went through the town center passing the many hotels, shops, and eateries, I was very surprised to see an Argos outlet on the island. The tour traveled through the countryside, we stopped at an old stone house and a thatched building, the building was impressive and seemed a great place to shelter from the harsh weather. The bus shortly left and we got off at a lovely beach, the sun was shining. The last stop of the day was at Ness Lighthouse, the area is surrounded by cliffs and rocks coming out of the sea, I enjoyed the views over the Atlantic. please wear appropriate clothing and a hat, it's cold and windy!

Heading back into town, the sun was setting and everyone was dropped off at their accommodation, I had booked mine through an accommodation app. (the hotels and B&Bs are not cheap).

The morning after the weather was rainy but I had shelter outside the hotel, I had a great sleep and was picked up early. The first stop was to a monument with a view over mountains, you could see for miles, was beautiful, even in the rain. Pulling over just a few miles down the road, we came across a fjord landscape, I haven't been to Norway but the guide said it was like a piece of Scandinavia.

The sky was overcast and the journey went through cliff edges, the next place visited was Luskentryre Beach, This is voted one of the best in the world, the area was busy with tourists including my group. The beach has beautiful white sand and a mix of blue/green waters. I was lucky enough to catch a bit of sunlight, you would not expect to find this in Scotland. Along the coast, there were more idyllic landscapes, from beaches to peat bogs, the bogs were in a fancy pattern that spread all over the grass.

After driving through the scenery, the tour reached Tarbet and our group got the chance to visit the famous gin distillery and tweed shop, I'm from Scotland so I can get this anywhere but to see where the fabrics are made was brilliant. Leaving Tarbet, the bus traveled through a boulder-like terrain, you felt like you were in a different country, these islands have many gems. An hour and a half later the bus got back into Stornoway.

The next day the tour ended but there were a few more tourist attractions on the island, I gathered my belongings and headed for breakfast, I've not tasted a better fry-up! the black pudding is excellent and you can't beat it. The first stop on the tour was out in the countryside to learn about peat and visit the standing stones, which are found all over the country. Another attraction that was on the list was Gearrannan Black House Village, I thought it was very unique as there are not many of these left. Lastly, my group and I got off the bus to a spectacular view, out of them all on the island this was top and not to be missed.

The itinerary was done and it was time to get the ferry back over to the mainland, the journey flew in, and the weather was miserable but the skies were mostly clear for the tour. The drive back to Inverness wasn't long, the tour made it to the bus stance and everyone said their goodbyes.

The tour was a fantastic start to finish, I would recommend this to locals and foreigners. Great value for money, I would join the tour at Inverness, this is a lot cheaper than departing from Edinburgh as prices are higher.

5 min after entering the small bus with 11 strangers, we were no longer strangers. What a great experience this 3 day trip to.the outer Hebrides was. The scenery was just out of this world, beautifull and breathtaking. Kev, our guide was so kind, so much knowledge, great sense of humor, and a terrific driver on those narrow roads…
I knew I would have a good time travelling again, but I didnt know this would be one of my best trips. I travelled solo, but made friends that I am lucky thay I will meet again.
Rabbis is very profesional, and I can recommend this company to whoever picky person. I have already planned other tours with this company

This is my second Rabbie's tour which lived up to my expectations. We had good weather, smooth crossings and saw dolphins swimming along with the ferry. We visited a variety of places. The scenery is stunning with idyllic white sandy beaches. The wonderful memories of Luskentyre and Bosta Beach will live with me forever. Callanish Stones are impressive too. Willie our driver and guide is very experienced and sociable. He made sure everyone was ok and I noticed at times he went the extra mile. Willie was excellent at spotting seals and dolphins, and we also saw a white tailed eagle and stag. Our accommodation in Stornoway was well located with shops and restaurants within walking distance. A truly magical trip. Thank you Willie, and I would definitely recommend this Rabbie's tour.

Last year we went on two Rabbie’s tours from Inverness. The first was one day to the Isle of Skye and the second was three days to the Orkney Islands. Both were excellent and it was the tour guides that really made them outstanding. At the end of the Orkneys tour the guide recommended the three-day tour to Harris and Lewis (Outer Hebrides) as even better than the Orkneys if we were ever to come back. So, this year we decided to follow her recommendations and took the Hebrides tour.

The tour itself was great but unfortunately it didn’t completely live up to expectations because the guide on this tour was not knowledgeable about it, unlike the previous guides. As we set off he immediately told us that this was the first time he’d done this tour and he hadn’t been to the islands for many years. To be fair it might be that Rabbie’s had been let down by another guide, experienced on this tour, due to covid or something. It felt a bit like that, but, if that was the case, it would have been much better to tell the passengers up front. In all other aspects he was obviously an experienced Rabbie’s guide and did a good job. He was friendly, sociable and did everything he could to make the tour enjoyable. Unfortunately, however, he had no knowledge of the details of the places we visited and passed by, so no “stories”, which I now understand are such an integral part of a Rabbie’s tour.

With regard to the tour itself and the places we visited, it was great. Fabulous locations and lovely people we met. The only additional thing we would have liked was a bit more time in Stornoway. We stayed there two nights but, on both occasions, we arrived late and left early. It would have been nice to have an hour or two to wander around the streets and maybe do a bit of shopping.

This should have been a five-star review. It’s only four stars because of the guide comments above but I would still very much recommend both this tour and Rabbie’s in general and will certainly use them again should the occasion arise.

So, we’ve now done three of the islands’ tours but if you only have time for one my personal favourite was the Orkneys tour.
