The tour guide was clearly knowledgeable and wanted to communicate all the interesting facts that we had signed up to learn about. Unfortunately, the poor woman’s English was very difficult to understand and she struggled to find the correct words. I work with English as a Second Language students and am used to deciphering many accents so I fared better than my husband and others in the group but still understood perhaps 65% of what she said. My husband said he understood 40% at most. Additionally, the tour time was changed a few days beforehand and one couple told us that they had been scheduled for the previous day but were changed at the last minute. It appears that this company shuffles customers around at the last minute to suit their own convenience. .

Our guide Charles (Carlos in Spanish) is a historian. He therefore was an excellent guide to these 2 fantastic sites. Besides giving us very much information he also has a great sense of humour.

The combination of the lack of substance on this tour and the quality of the audio guide system made this a disappointment. For example, the audio system often crosses over with other systems so we couldn’t hear our guide, George. And our group was large enough — 16-20 people — that if we got any distance from George, which happened often with a group this size as the spaces are tight and crowded, the system cut out. Having just done a fabulous group tour at the Alhambra, this fell short both in historical context and artistic/architectural detail. (I happened to overhear a Sevilla Walking Tour while we were at the Alcazar that sounded quite good. Just an FYI.)
